AEW Star Gone After Deciding Against Wrestling

Tony Khan AEW

Tony Khan has been bolstering the AEW roster in recent months but it seems one star no longer has anything to do with the company.

Will Ospreay signed his AEW contract back at Full Gear in November 2023 and has gone on to make waves in the company, most recently with a dream match against Bryan Danielson at Dynasty.

Ospreay’s former NJPW rival Kazuchika Okada debuted as part of Tony Khan’s roster in March 2024 and he made quick work of picking up gold as he soon defeated Eddie Kingston to win the AEW Continental Championship.

Shortly after Okada’s arrival, Mercedes Mone announced herself as All Elite, putting an end to all the speculation on her wrestling future. But while there have been plenty of additions, it seems one star not seen in the company for years now is no longer interested in wrestling.

Paige VanZant Not With AEW

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer was asked if MMA star Paige VanZant was still involved with AEW but it seems that ship has sailed:

Even though I know she’s still on the roster, she’s not with AEW anymore. She decided she didn’t wanna be a wrestler, if she wanted to be a wrestler, she’d still be there.

VanZant still appears on the roster page of AEW’s website but it looks unlikely she will ever add to her one match in the company. Paige VanZant teamed with Sammy Guevara and Scorpio Sky at Double Or Nothing in May 2022 to defeat Frankie Kazarian, Sammy Guevara, and Tay Melo.
