Roman Reigns WWE Return Plans Revealed
Roman Reigns is headed back to WWE work soon after a month-long break following WrestleMania.
The last time the WWE Universe saw Roman Reigns was on the Raw after WrestleMania on April 3rd when it appeared as though Reigns would team up with his cousin Solo Sikoa against Cody Rhodes & Brock Lesnar. However, the match never happened as Lesnar turned on Cody and destroyed him while Reigns looked on with a shocked look on his face.
At WrestleMania 39, many people believed that the lengthy championship reign of the Tribal Chief would end against Cody Rhodes, but that didn’t happen. Reigns won in cheap fashion yet again when Solo Sikoa got involved while Cody Rhodes and many fans were devastated by what happened.
That was over a month ago with Reigns getting a lengthy break from television while WWE promotes the Backlash Premium Live Event this Saturday, May 8th.
As for what’s next, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Roman Reigns is “booked” for the Night of Champions PLE on May 27th in Riyadh, Saudi Araba and Money in the Bank on July 1st in London, England. They didn’t mention SummerSlam in Detroit too, but that seems likely since it’s one of the biggest shows of the year.
What’s interesting about WWE’s Night of Champions event on May 27th is that Roman Reigns will go into that show with a 999-day reign as the Universal Champion. Roman’s reign as the WWE Champion has been about 13 months at this point.
While Roman Reigns hasn’t been on television for the last month, he was a first pick for Smackdown in the WWE Draft. Reigns isn’t going alone because The Bloodline’s Paul Heyman, Solo Sikoa and The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) are going with him. The Usos mentioned recently that Reigns wasn’t talking to them since they failed to win back the WWE Tag Team Titles, so there should be a lot of Bloodline drama whenever Reigns returns to television.
As for who Reigns may face at those events, the Smackdown roster has some new faces to challenge the Tribal Chief including Bobby Lashley, AJ Styles, Edge or perhaps a guy like Sheamus. We could find out soon after Backlash takes place.
