Rey Mysterio Names The Best Thing That Happened To Dominik In WWE

Rey Mysterio Dominik Mysterio

Rey Mysterio knows that being separated from his son Dominik Mysterio on WWE television played a big part in his son’s career taking off.

When Dominik Mysterio had his first WWE match at SummerSlam 2020 against Seth Rollins, his father legendary Rey Mysterio was right there by his side. For two years, Rey and Dominik were side by side and even became the first father-son duo to become the WWE Tag Team Champions as well.

That on-screen alliance between Rey and Dominik ended when Dominik turned on his dad (and Edge) at the Clash at the Castle PLE in September 2022.

Since being away from his father, Dominik has thrived as a member of The Judgment Day group which has been featured heavily on the WWE Raw brand for the past two years.

During an appearance on Rampage Jackson’s Jaxxon Podcast, Rey spoke about Dominik’s success as a WWE superstar and how Dominik breaking away from Rey was the best thing for Dominik.

“For my son to come in out of nowhere and not have my style, have a different build. He’s 6’1. He’s about 190 [lbs]. So it was very hard for him at the beginning to try to adapt and find his role as a wrestler.”

“The comparisons — they were made. And of course, he couldn’t live up to them. Not until we separated and he continued on his own path without having his dad by his side. And that was the best thing that could have ever happened to him.”

Rey Mysterio Is A Proud Father

As the discussion continued, WWE Hall of Fame Rey Mysterio spoke about how proud he is of his son Dominik.

“In the past three years, he’s had the success that I never had in three years breaking in the business. I mean, times are different. But as a father you could only imagine how proud I am. Incredible.”

Dominik and Rey are together again on the WWE Raw brand currently, so they could have another clash in the ring again soon.
