WWE Veteran “Begging” For Big Roman Reigns Match
A legendary WWE Hall of Famer wants to see a specific Roman Reigns match that hasn’t happened yet.
The buildup to WrestleMania 40 in 2024 featured The Rock heavily involved in a storyline, while Roman Reigns held the WWE Title and the Universal Title simultaneously. Reigns would go on to have a 1,316-day reign as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
Cody Rhodes had won the Royal Rumble that January, and he actually gave up his WWE Title shot at Wrestlemania 40 for The Rock. The plan was to have Reigns against Rock at WrestleMania 40. However, the fans hated it, and WWE pivoted to book Rhodes against Reigns at WrestleMania 40 on Sunday.
In the main event of WrestleMania 40 Saturday, The Rock and Roman Reigns teamed up to beat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, with The Rock beating Rhodes clean.
That WrestleMania 40 match was The Rock’s first “real” match in 11 years, and there’s no guarantee he’ll ever wrestle again since he’s 54 years old.
While speaking to PWMania, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry, who knows The Rock well from their days in the Nation of Domination, was asked if the Roman Reigns dream match against The Rock will ever happen.
“I hope so. I’ve been begging for it for 5 years now and it still hasn’t happened.
“I think that will be the biggest wrestling attraction in the world that people want to see that we haven’t seen yet. It would be up there as one of the biggest fights in wrestling history. It would be up there with Rock vs Hogan. The Rock has been in a lot of those kinds of matches. He gets around when it comes to the historical fights.
There’s been Rock and Hogan, Rock and Austin, Rock and Undertaker. If this trend carries on, we’ll probably get Rock and Roman and that would be one hell of a fight.”
Roman Reigns Continues To Inspire His Family
As the “Original Tribal Chief” (aka OTC), the World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns continues to lead the way for his family. Currently on Raw, Reigns is leading The Bloodline again, while joined by cousins Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu.
Earlier this year, Roman Reigns talked about his family’s legacy and what it means to him.
:Always capable. Always capable. You know what I mean? Like that that’s just built in. Just staying ready, you know? Um, what else am I going to do? This is what I do. This is how this is my livelihood. This is how I feed my children. This is how, you know, I create the abundance. So, uh why not stay in shape? Why not stay mentally sharp and in tune with the game? Um, this is my family’s art form. That’s why it’s so important to me.
That’s why I’m not BSing when I’m talking about representing my legacy, furthering our story, taking our book to different levels, and be able to create different chapters. And if I’m able to do it at the highest level, inspire my family members to follow my lead, can’t nobody stop us, man. You know what I mean? To me, we’re the first family of wrestling. Nobody else can touch us.”
