Two former WWE champions are reportedly heading to AEW following their release.

Zelina Vega initially joined WWE in 2017, where she had a five-year run before she was released in November 2020. However, she returned less than a year later. Her second stint lasted nearly another half a decade. The 35-year-old was let go again last month.

Vega’s husband, Aleister Black, also had two runs in the Stamford-based company. While his first lasted five years, his second came to an end after only one year. Between those runs, the former NXT Champion competed in AEW, which is reportedly where he and his wife now appear to be headed once again.

Ex-WWE Star Claims Aleister Black & Zelina Vega Are Confirmed To Join AEW

Speaking on his 2 Count podcast on the Behind The Turnbuckle channel on YouTube, former WWE star Jonathan Coachman addressed Aleister Black and Zelina Vega’s future.

The former ESPN presenter claimed a a highly reliable contact had confirmed to him that the couple is heading to Tony Khan’s promotion following their WWE exit.

Aleister Black and Zelina Vega are confirmed to go back to AEW. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a talent go back and forth twice to each,” Coachman said.

This feels different than the last time. And let’s be honest, because you and I have been in the wrestling business for a long time — it gets really terrifying when you lose your job, and you’re like, ‘Where am I going to go?’ Not to earn a lot of money, just to earn a living and pay my bills. And so if AEW is willing to give them both a deal, then they should take it.

Nevertheless, The Coach noted that he disagrees with AEW’s decision to sign the former WWE couple.

But I don’t agree with signing these two, with all due respect, because I don’t think Aleister Black moves the needle at all. Right now, if you’re signing any talent, they got to be talented, and they have to come in and make a difference. [H/T: ITRWrestling]
