Latest Nikki Bella Update For WWE WrestleMania 42 Is Very Worrying
Nikki Bella is currently dealing with an ankle injury, which has made her WrestleMania status uncertain.
The Fearless star suffered the injury during the March 27 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. She rolled her left ankle during a tag team match where she teamed with her Brie Bella against Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair.
She completed the match but was later seen limping and wearing a walking boot. On the April 6 edition of Monday Night Raw, announcer Michael Cole officially confirmed Nikki Bella’s injury on live TV, revealing that she is undergoing rehab to recover in time for her WrestleMania match.
Nikki Bella suffered that ankle injury a couple weeks ago and she’s undergoing efforts to rehab in time to compete for the match at WrestleMania. So, good luck to Nikki as she gets ready for WrestleMania 12 nights away.
Bella is scheduled to team up with her twin sister, Brie, in a Fatal Four Way match for the Women’s Tag Team Championship against the teams of Lash Legend & Nia Jax, Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, and Bayley & Lyra Valkyria.
Nikki Bella’s WrestleMania 42 Status Is Still Up In The Air
Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer recently commented on Nikki Bella’s injury, stating that her status for WrestleMania 42 is currently “too close to call.” Reports suggest that if Nikki is not cleared in time, the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) may replace The Bella Twins in the tag title match.
However, if Nikki is cleared, WWE could instead move forward with a separate singles match between IYO SKY and Asuka for Mania. Nikki’s uncertain status is reportedly the reason why the singles match between IYO SKY and Asuka has not been officially announced yet.
The Bella Twins have also recently revealed that this is their final run in WWE, and they were hoping to go out on a high note. However, this ankle injury has now put a damper on Nikki and Brie’s WrestleMania plans.
Speaking on IRL with Angie Martinez, Nikki Bella admitted that she has been “super bummed” about the injury, as she was really looking forward to competing at WrestleMania.
“I’ve been super bummed out about it. So, as of now, it’s a sprained ankle. We don’t know if it’s a high sprain or something else, so I got an MRI. I’m waiting for the results.”
After years of hiatus, Nikki Bella returned to WWE at the 2025 Royal Rumble during the Women’s Royal Rumble match, while her twin sister, Brie Bella, made her return a year later in the 2026 Women’s Royal Rumble match.
The twins officially reunited on the March 20, 2026, episode of SmackDown, entering the tag team division for their “final ride” together.
