New Footage Reveals Real Reason For CM Punk’s Phone Slap Incident
CM Punk was recently in the news for slapping a phone out of a fan’s hand.
The initial video obtained by TMZ showed the incident being shot from a distance. However, the new piece of evidence is from the fan’s point of view before Punk approaches him.
In the latest video, Bayley can be seen hugging Punk’s wife and former Women’s Intercontinental Champion, AJ Lee, who are long-time friends.
The fan is within an arm’s reach of the women, who are saying their goodbyes to each other. Projecting the fan as an intruder in their space, Bayley drags Lee away, but the fan continues to approach him with his phone intact in his hands.
The Role Model then shoves the fan away, saying, “Go away. Get out of here.” CM Punk’s hand hitting the phone is seen next before the clip ends and continues with the initial footage.
The entire incident took place inside the MGM Grand, where the wrestlers were apparently staying due to it being in proximity to the Allegiant Stadium.
Over the last several years, wrestlers such as Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley, and Sonya Deville have been involved in harrowing incidents with crazed fans.
Recently, TNA star Elayna Black, fka Cora Jade, was seen confronting a man after he groped her at WrestleCon. Even AEW superstar MJF spoke about a fan dressing up as a pilot, intending to kidnap him.
CM Punk Teases New WWE Rivalry
CM Punk put on one of his best wrestling performances at WrestleMania 42 on Sunday, but came up short against a resilient Roman Reigns.
Both men had been feuding since after January’s Royal Rumble, trading personal insults before putting each other through the announcer’s table on separate occasions.
Their match on April 19 was a bloodied affair, at least for The Second City Saint, who got busted open with a shot to the head by the steel steps while he was hanging upside down on the ring ropes.
CM Punk did everything in his power, but exhaustion got the best of him as he collapsed under the weight of the OTC after hitting a GTS and going in for a second.
Reigns capitalized on the opportunity and hit the 47-year-old with a couple of spears for the victory.
On Monday, Punk was upbeat for a man who had lost his World Heavyweight Championship 24 hours ago to one of his biggest rivals.
He spoke about the multiple personal losses he had suffered over the last six months, including his friend Duke Rufus and his dog, Larry.
Punk explained his smile by saying that he was still the best wrestler and said that he just needed to be ready because another title opportunity might just fall out of the sky.
He was then met in the ring by the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, who retained his title against Randy Orton on Night 1 of WrestleMania 42.
Both men exchanged pleasantries, after which they shared a few more thoughts before CM Punk reiterated about getting another title shot while looking at Rhodes’ belt.
In response, The American Nightmare told him just to say when.
