MJF Nearly Got Legitimately Abducted After AEW Show; Details Emerge
MJF recently recounted a real-life incident where he almost got abducted following an AEW taping.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman is the reigning World Champion in the Jacksonville-based company, having won the title at last year’s Worlds End pay-per-view by defeating ‘Hangman’ Adam Page, Swerve Strickland, and then-champion Samoa Joe in a 4-way bout.
Friedman last defended his gold at Revolution in March, where he faced Page in a Texas Death Match and won.
MJF is currently involved in a feud with Kenny Omega and will put his title on the line against The Belt Collector on Sunday (April 12) at Dynasty. The pay-per-view will emanate from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
AEW has a total of 6 matches, including the aforementioned match.

MJF Details Abduction Attempt After AEW Show
MJF is, without a doubt, one of the well-known names in the wrestling world.
His intense in-ring promos coupled with his ability to take a match to its brink make him a valuable asset for All Elite Wrestling.
However, a recent incident could have put his fate with the company in jeopardy, and his life in general, as he escaped being abducted by a man posing as a pilot.
Speaking on The Adam Friedland Show, the 30-year-old superstar revealed that a man dressed as a pilot approached him after a show, stating that he was being flown home privately.
A pilot walks up to me and he goes, ‘Mr. Friedman, I’m gonna be flying you back home after the show’s proceedings.’
MJF revealed that he had every reason to believe the man as AEW President Tony Khan was aware of Friedman’s family emergency involving his father.
He then approached his boss to thank him personally, but their interaction left him speechless.
Which, to be fair, I’ve flown on the jet a couple of times with my boss up to that point anyway. So I find my boss after this pilot says this to me—I knock on his door, he opens the door, he goes, ‘Max!’ I say, ‘That’s me.’
I go, ‘I want you to know how much this means to me—the fact that you’re trying to fly me back home to my dad as soon as possible after he had a heart attack,’ because my boss Tony did know. He goes, ‘What the f**k are you talking about?’ I go, ‘The pilot told—’ He goes, ‘I didn’t f****** book you a jet to go back home tonight.’
An irate MJF then approached AEW executive QT Marshall and approached the man with every intention of confronting him. They even gave the man a chance to prove that he was actually who he said he was.
So now I go back over with one of the EVPs of the company, QT Marshall. And QT goes, ‘And who is he saying hired you again?’ He goes, ‘Tony Khan.’ And QT goes—before the guy leaves—‘Wait a minute, we’ll let you stay if you show us your pilot’s license.’
And the guy—I s*** you not—does this: ‘Ahhh, I left it at home!’ Oh, get the f*** outta here. So then they f***** throw the guy in the brig.
MJF then revealed that the man had come to kidnap him.
But they asked this guy, ‘What were you planning on doing?’ And he was honest—he said he was going to f***** abduct me. An adult man.
