MJF Smashes All-Time AEW Record

MJF

MJF told everyone he was better than them from the start and now he has proved it as AEW World Champion.

At Full Gear on the 19th of November 2022, MJF ascended to the top of All Elite Wrestling when he defeated Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship, bringing some stability to the title after a period of uncertainty thanks to CM Punk being stripped of the gold two months before.

Since then MJF has successfully defended his championship against the likes of Ricky Starks, Bryan Danielson, Jack Perry, Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Ethan Page, Adam Cole, and Samoa Joe. His most recent title defence came against the man who was the longest-reigning AEW World Champion in history, Kenny Omega, but The Devil was able to overcome Omega on Collision booking his own place in the history books.

MJF Surpasses Kenny Omega In AEW Record Books

Now, as of the 1st of November 2023, MJF has surpassed Kenny Omega’s title reign of 346 days and is now the longest-reigning AEW World Champion of all time.

MJF will enter the history books again at Full Gear if he is able to retain his gold against Jay White as he will then become the first AEW World Champion to have held the gold for one year. Should he lose to Switchblade, his reign would end one day short of that milestone.
