Mastermind Behind Seth Rollins’ Major Move In WWE Revealed
Seth Rollins pulled off one of the biggest swerves of last year.
At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Rollins apparently injured his knee during his singles match against LA Knight. For three weeks, he wore a heavy brace and strictly walked on crutches in public.
He even appeared on mainstream media platforms, where he maintained his character as an injured superstar. Even his wife and fellow WWE star Becky Lynch participated by posting videos of Rollins online walking on crutches at home to make everyone believe that he was legitimately injured.
At SummerSlam 2025, CM Punk fought in the main event against Gunther to win the World Heavyweight Championship. Shortly after the victory, Rollins’ music hit, and he limped outside on crutches alongside Paul Heyman, who had the Money in the Bank briefcase in his hands.
Everyone thought that Seth Rollins was just there to tease his arch-rival Punk and play mind games with him, but in a shocking turn of events, Rollins suddenly dropped his crutches on the floor, unclipped his leg brace, and ran down the ramp after taking the Money in the Bank briefcase from Heyman.
He brutally ambushed a defenseless CM Punk and hit him with a Curb Stomp to pin him and steal the championship. That’s how Rollins pulled off the “ruse of the century” at SummerSlam.
Seth Rollins Reveals Bobby Roode Planned His “Ruse of the Century” Storyline
Seth Rollins recently appeared on ESPN’s Highlights with Omar, where he revealed that WWE producer Bobby Roode was the mastermind behind his “Ruse of the Century” storyline:
“None of this was rehearsed. Talked about it briefly. I can’t take all the credit for the crutch tossing. It was…I’ll take all the credit when it’s my idea. The idea for the crutch drop was actually a Bobby Roode idea, who’s one of the incredible performers in our industry, or was and now is a great producer backstage. Honestly, this came off smoother than I expected. The crutch drop, even the jacket, the handoff for the briefcase was smooth.“
