Major WWE Star Finally Wins On RAW After 4,025 Days

WWE RAW tonight was scheduled to feature two title matches, with both the men’s and women’s Intercontinental Championships set to be defended on the show.

The first of the two title matches saw AJ Lee put her title on the line, shortly after winning it from Becky Lynch at Elimination Chamber in her adopted hometown of Chicago, Illinois.

Lee stated that she wishes to be a fighting champion and would be willing to defend it anytime. Bayley won a six-person gauntlet match last week on RAW to become the number one contender for the championship.

Bayley and AJ Lee have been long-term friends, with Lee also serving as a role model for Bayley during her first run in the promotion. The two women locked horns tonight for the championship.

They wrestled each other in an entertaining match, which saw them both exchange momentum throughout, before AJ managed to retain her championship in her first title defense. Bayley looked to put the match to a rest as she climbed up the top rope to hit an Elbow Drop on the champion.

AJ moved out at the last second and took advantage of a groggy Bayley. She locked in The Black Widow on Bayley to retain the title and leave as champion. This marked her first win on the red brand after 4,025 days as she wrestled for the first time in over a decade on the show. Her last win came against Summer Rae on the March 9 episode of WWE RAW in 2015.
