CM Punk described a scary incident that took place during a WWE tour.

CM Punk is widely regarded as one of the best professional wrestlers in the world. He made a huge name for himself in WWE, where he has wrestled for several years.

Punk has accomplished everything there is to do in the WWE, including main-eventing WrestleMania. Under the WWE banner, Punk has been on tours to different countries around the world. However, one of these tours almost had a disastrous ending.

CM Punk once had a gun pulled on him during a WWE show

During an appearance on The Late Run, CM Punk revealed that he once had machine guns pointed at him during one of his matches at a WWE live event in Brazil. The incident took place after Punk’s opponent grabbed a Brazilian Flag from a fan.

“I had machine guns pointed at me. Oh, yeah. You mentioned Brazil. The company went and did a show in Brazil one time. We haven’t been back. Brazil, I love you. I would like to come back. Let’s try to work on that. My opponent that night rolled out of the ring and snatched a Brazilian flag from somebody.”

CM Punk said that while this type of thing happens all the time in America, Brazil is a different ball game.

“In America, you get people who get bent out of shape, but there’s no law against it. People burn flags, do whatever, right? Freedom of speech. He rolled into the ring. I’m down, looking at him, going, ‘Mhm. Maybe no.’ And I can’t remember exactly if he just threw it down and stepped on it or if he maybe wiped his butt with it. Shawn Michaels did this to the Canadian flag, too, very famously.”

Punk recalled trying to gauge the situation as another referee came into the ring. Then the Head of Talent Relations also got involved.

“The instant this happened, all of a sudden, there’s a second referee in the ring, and I’m going, ‘Oh, what’s going on?’ One referee’s talking to him. The other referee’s talking to me, trying to relay the information. Then our head of talent relations is in the ring. This all happens lickety-split.”

The Straight Edge Superstar also said that one guy pointed a gun directly at him.

“I’m looking around like, ‘Okay, what? What?’ And then I turn and look, and the ring is surrounded by men in fatigues, and one has his gun pointed directly at me. They were offended.”

Punk was told that the match was over, and they were asked to wrap things up. However, Punk’s opponent refused to comply. Hence, the Second City Saint had to roll him up and pin him.

“They said  — I had my extra referee and my head of talent relations — ‘This match is over. We’ve got to wrap this up, you know?’ Homeboy who did the thing was like, ‘Absolutely not. I refuse to do this.’ So I had to roll him up for real, stack him up, and the ref counted to three.”

CM Punk then tried to get back in the good graces of the fans by climbing the turnbuckle and kissing the flag.

“I grabbed the flag, jumped up on the turnbuckle. I’m showing it, I’m kissing the flag. ‘Hey, everybody, sorry. I love you.’”

The drama continued backstage as authorities tried to grab the wrestler’s passport. However, WWE had to sneak him under the cover of night, and the tour continued.

“And then they just tried to snatch dude up, grab his passport, and we knew if he handed his passport over, he wasn’t coming home. So, by the cover of night, we got him out of there, and then we continued on the tour and he went home” [H/T Ringside News]

It’s good that CM Punk and his opponent escaped without getting seriously hurt.
