Why The Rock May Finally Return To WWE
The Rock has been missing from WWE for almost a year and a half.
The Final Boss initially returned to the Stamford-based company ahead of WrestleMania 40 to set up a dream match against his cousin, Roman Reigns. However, the plans changed following backlash from WWE fans over Cody Rhodes’ status.
The Rock eventually turned heel and joined Reigns’ Bloodline. The two cousins teamed up to defeat The American Nightmare and Seth Rollins in a tag team match on night one of the Show of Shows. The Hollywood star also tried to help The OTC retain his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Rhodes the following night, but failed.
Since then, The Rock has made several sporadic WWE appearances, with his last one being at Elimination Chamber in February of last year.
The Rock May Return To WWE To Target Roman Reigns
Analyzing the promo on his Notsam Wrestling, WWE analyst Sam Roberts suggested Reigns’ new version of The Bloodline may consist exclusively of blood relatives from the Anoa’i-Fatu branch, excluding the Maivia side of the family.
Roberts noted that the Maivia family is connected to Reigns through a blood oath between his grandfather and High Chief Peter Maivia rather than through a direct blood relationship.
The 42-year-old analyst claimed Reigns’ exclusion of The Rock could later lead to a feud between the two cousins once The Final Boss returns.
I think that what you’re gonna get to eventually is hopefully, if you ever get The Rock back in the picture, this idea that maybe Roman has structured a Bloodline that pushes The Rock side out and maybe The Rock doesn’t love that. [55:03 onwards]
