Major Update On Paige’s New WWE Deal Ahead Of SmackDown
Paige is reportedly returning to WWE after a four-year absence.
The former Divas Champion had an 11-year run in the Stamford-based company, during which she competed in the ring and served as SmackDown General Manager.
After leaving in 2022, Paige came out of in-ring retirement to join AEW. The Anti-Diva spent three years in Tony Khan’s promotion, where she held the Women’s World Championship once before departing last year. She has since stepped away from action.
Paige Has Signed A Multi-Year Deal With WWE
Earlier today, PW Insider reported that Paige is returning to WWE to possibly replace an injured Nikki Bella in the Fatal 4-Way Women’s Tag Team Championship Match at WrestleMania 42.
BodySlam.net has now provided an update on the former Divas Champion’s status ahead of SmackDown, reporting that the 33-year-old has re-signed a multi-year deal with the company.
The news indicates that Paige’s comeback could be for another full-time run. The Women’s Intercontinental Champion, AJ Lee, has recently expressed her desire to see her former on-screen rival return to the promotion in an interview with Sports Illustrated.
It would be great. She’s so talented and I knew it from from day one and we we always joke that I was her fairy godmother. And I just like took her under my wing and tried to protect her.”
And just to see her now would be just kind of heartwarming and healing and she’d be a great addition to the locker room, I think.
This place has really come a long way and the women work together so beautifully and they’re so supportive and I would love for her to experience just like how fun it is now.
