Is Blake Monroe Headed Down The Same Path As Forgotten WWE Star?
A wrestling fan has sparked discussions by comparing Blake Monroe to forgotten WWE star Veer Mahan.
Veer Mahan made his debut as Rinku for the promotion on NXT in March 2020. His debut also saw Saurav Gurjar and Malcolm Bivens make their first appearance. The duo was later called Indus Sher, with Bivens as their manager.
After June, the group ceased to exist before reappearing in January 2021, minus Bivens.
Rinku, now repackaged as Veer, aligned with Shanky and Jinder Mahal on the May 10 episode of Raw.
During the 2021 Draft in October, Jinder and Shanky were drafted to SmackDown while Veer remained on the red brand. Veer was then further repackaged as Veer Mahan.
WWE ran months of vignettes to hype his debut, becoming meme-worthy among fans. It finally came to pass on April 4, 2022. Upon making his debut, Veer Mahan attacked The Mysterios.
Blake Monroe seems to be heading down a similar path, at least according to one fan.
Is Blake Monroe The Next Veer Mahan Of WWE?
Since making her WWE debut on NXT, Blake Monroe has been one of the must-see wrestlers in the company.
Monroe started her journey in the developmental brand as a babyface before turning on her ally, Jordynne Grace, at Evolution.
She subsequently wrestled in high-stakes matches and feuded with top superstars on the brand to keep her name in the spotlight. The 27-year-old is also a former one-time NXT Women’s North American Champion.
Blake Monroe’s last NXT match was on the April 21 edition, where she lost to Tatum Paxley in a Casket Match. It was later reported that she was assigned to SmackDown.
Since then, WWE has been running “Coming Soon” vignettes nearly every week. In her videos, Monroe is shown writing in her diary while discussing other female superstars whom she would potentially face after making her debut.
On a recent episode of the Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE personality Sam Roberts answered a fan’s question comparing the British wrestler to Veer Mahan.
The user said that WWE was running coming soon vignettes for the longest time, and Monroe was nowhere to be seen. In response, Roberts said that the delay is inadvertently serving another purpose.
That’s a great question. Veer, of course, the “Veer is Coming” memes went wild for a period of time. I have to say ‘no,’ and I’ll tell you why.
It occurred to me watching SmackDown that while Blake Monroe just won’t show up, no matter how much we want her to show up, there is still somewhat of a method to the madness in the sense that maybe, just maybe, it is kind of helping to get people over in the sense that Blake Monroe is going by specific women every week talking about Charlotte, talking about Rhea, talking about all these people.
It struck me when she did her thing this week on SmackDown, talking about Giulia and criticizing Giulia in her “coming to SmackDown soon” thing, while it didn’t give us any indication of what soon meant for when she’s gonna be arriving on SmackDown, it did, I think, on some level help Giulia. It helped us categorize her as a babyface. It helped put her in the conversation of people that Blake Monroe would care about…so, it’s not as nothing as Veer was. [1:12:26 onwards]
Monroe’s solitary appearance on SmackDown was in a backstage segment with Chelsea Green during the May 22 episode.
