Major Claim Made About WWE’s Treatment Of Giulia
The current WWE Women’s United States Champion is having to play second fiddle to her tag team partner, observes Dave Meltzer.
Giulia is on her second run as Women’s United States Champion. She won the title from Chelsea Green on the first SmackDown episode of the new year.
However, it’s her tag team partner, Kiana James, who seems to be the bigger star in WWE’s eyes currently.
James’ performance in the Women’s Royal Rumble Match was impressive. She had a big moment where she laid a Samoan drop on the much bigger Nia Jax and lasted about 27 minutes in the match, as compared to Giulia’s 15 minutes.
Although Giulia would have one more elimination than her tag team partner, James’ survival duration in the gimmick match was only behind top stars like Charlotte Flair, Sol Ruca, Lash Legend, Raquel Rodriguez, IYO SKY, and eventual winner Liv Morgan.
Dave Meltzer and Brian Alvarez Make Observations on WWE’s Treatment Of Giulia
On a recent episode of SmackDown, it was Giulia who was pinned in a match for the Tag Team titles against the champions, Rhiyo, and not her “representative” tag partner, Kiana James.
Analyzing the match on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Brian Alvarez noted that this, combined with what happened at the Rumble, clearly indicates that WWE is seeing Kiana James as the bigger star.
Dave Meltzer: I think that they have kind of come to the idea that Kiana James is actually the bigger star than Giulia.
Brian Alvarez: Well, they are pushing her. She got that big win a couple of weeks ago. She got the pin in the match to get them this match.
Dave Meltzer: She was also…I think she was treated better in the Rumble, too.
