John Cena To Triple H: I Don’t Want This WWE Star To Beat Me
John Cena’s Farewell Tour wasn’t determined only by Triple H, but by The Champ as well.
Given his expertise in the industry, The Champ gave his own inputs into his matches, and The Game would agree to it, more often than not.
However, the one thing Cena did say was that he did not handpick his opponents but gave a chance to whoever stepped up to the occasion.
John Cena did not want R-Truth to beat him
Never Seen 17 had teamed up with Logan Paul at Money in the Bank against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. However, R-Truth returned to the show and struck Cena with the title belt before fleeing through the audience.
On WWE Unreal season 2 episode 2, footage shows that Triple H and John Cena discussed the ending of the tag team match, and The Champ made it explicitly clear that he wanted R-Truth to only knock him out, but not beat him. He wanted that to be done by Cody Rhodes.
I go get the title, all we had was Truth coming in, taking the thing, like “You can’t handle the Truth,” and I got into the Cross Rhodes. We could have him take the thing, give me a f****** AA, or knock me into a Cross Rhodes. My one thing was, I don’t want him to beat me, and not Cody to beat me.
