Gunther Will Allegedly Beat Another WWE Legend After AJ Styles & John Cena

Gunther has not earned the ‘Career Killer’ moniker for nothing.

Since 2025, The Ring General has retired three wrestling legends in Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles.

The Austrian first disposed of Goldberg at Saturday Night’s Main Event in July 2025 when he made the then-58-year-old pass out to his sleeper submission.

It was followed by the retirement of John Cena during the namesake event in December, as he tapped out to the chokehold.

AJ Styles endured a similar fate to that of Goldberg after he was unable to answer the referee’s call at the 2026 Royal Rumble event.

As a result, Gunther has now become an even bigger threat to other wrestlers, especially those who are nearing retirement.

The 38-year-old recently competed in a 3-way Elimination Chamber match against Je’Von Evans and Dominik Mysterio. While he dominated both his opponents, it was ultimately the ‘Young OG’ who took home the honors.

The takeaway from this might be that the Austrian goes looking for a fight and stumbles into Brock Lesnar.

Gunther May Retire Brock Lesnar At SummerSlam

At last year’s Royal Rumble, WWE teased a potential feud between Gunther and Brock Lesnar, but that never happened.

Lesnar last competed at the 2026 men’s Rumble match, where he was controversially eliminated during Jey Uso’s entrance.

Elsewhere, reports of Lesnar retiring at this year’s SummerSlam in Minnesota, which is where he is billed from in WWE, have made the rounds.

On the Story Time with Dutch Mantell podcast, the veteran manager discussed the possibility of Gunther retiring The Beast Incarnate in August, claiming that it was his time to give back to the company.

Mantell also predicted that, despite Lesnar’s loss, he would come out on top because both wrestlers would be able to put on a quality match.

Lesnar has been advertised for the upcoming episode of Raw, which will contain an AJ Styles tribute as well.
