Gunther’s Shocking Reaction To WWE Fan Driving 9 Hours To See Him
Gunther has revealed how he reacted when a fan drove a long way to meet him.
As a two-time former WWE World Champion, Gunther has become one of the biggest stars in WWE. While the powerful Austrian has been a heel during his career, he also has his share of fans due to his exceptional talent and the quality of his matches.
Gunther’s second World Heavyweight Championship reign ended when he lost the gold to CM Punk in what was a great match as the SummerSlam Saturday main event.
During the match, Gunther took a bump on his face and hurt his nose. It was a way to write him out of storylines while he deals with a broken nose that needs surgery.
While speaking on The Undertaker’s Six Feet Under podcast, the former World Heavyweight Champion spoke about his current WWE run while sharing his reaction when a fan drove a long way just to meet him.
“I did a meet and greet recently. There was one person, they said they drove like nine hours or something for a meet and greet. I said to her, I was like, ‘Appreciate it, but never do that again. Do something with your time that actually benefits you. It’s a waste of time.’
She looked a bit sad, but I felt like it was the only responsible thing to say at that point. I feel like if my kid drove somewhere to see a person, I wish the same message would be transferred.”
Gunther Is Not In Awe Of Celebrities Visiting WWE
On the subject of celebrities going to WWE shows, Gunther told The Undertaker that he doesn’t care to meet them unless it’s for the company.
“No, not really. I never had that. Yeah, I could never, I could never really… I don’t know, follow that. I wasn’t. Obviously there are people you look up to and be like, ‘They’re cool, maybe I can learn something.’
But also, like, I’m usually that kind of guy—when I don’t know, somebody’s backstage, like somebody famous is a visitor and stuff—and they look for people like, ‘Hey, can you meet him?’
I’m like, ‘Please ask somebody else.’ I can do it for the company, like have a little chit-chat and blah blah blah, of course. But if it’s personal to me, it’s like… maybe take somebody that would enjoy it.”
