AEW & WWE Legend Chris Jericho Makes Retirement-Related Announcement
AEW and WWE legend Chris Jericho has no intention of slowing down.
Jericho is 55 years old, and at this age, many wrestling superstars decide to hang up their boots. For example, John Cena and AJ Styles hung up their boot in their late 40s, but The Demo God has decided to continue his professional career.
In a new interview with Dan Marston, Chris Jericho revealed that he does not intend to retire anytime soon because he loves what he’s doing right now.
Chris Jericho Loves Entertaining His Fans
Chris Jericho thinks that it is his responsibility to entertain the fans who have supported him throughout the years, and he takes great joy in doing so. He stated that, be it professional wrestling, music, or acting, he likes being creative, and his creativity is one of the big reasons behind his motivation to keep going.
“Honestly, things like what we’re doing right now—but times it by a million. I still love doing cool things that people who appreciate my work will think is cool.”
“I take great responsibility in entertaining people that appreciate Chris Jericho’s work—not just in wrestling, not just in music, but in as many different ways as I can, because to me that’s exciting. Creatively, I need to be stimulated and be motivated.”
“So that’s one reason. Two, I’ve got a lot of fans and friends—I call them friends more than fans—but people who appreciate what I do and can’t wait to see what I’m doing next.”
“So whether it’s the Jericho Cruise or Talk Is Jericho or, you know, if I’m on Dexter or we’re doing Fozzy—we played yesterday at Sonic Temple in Columbus, there was 50,000 people for our show.”
“And then afterwards, I found out that the Way brothers from My Chemical Romance are huge Jericho fans. They waited in line to meet me when they were kids, and here they are headlining this massive festival with My Chemical Romance.”
“And it’s just kind of cool to see how I’m influenced by these guys, but then I’ve influenced those guys, and it all kind of blends in together in a really cool, creative, respectful soup, shall we say? So yeah, I mean, what am I going to do? Retire from doing everything and go take this box and put it over there and grow flowers for the rest of my life?”
Chris Jericho added that even though in a few years he might not be able to wrestle anymore, he plans to continue his professional career as an actor and podcaster.
“I’ve got no intentions of slowing down. I might not be wrestling forever, nor do I want to be, but you can play music till you’re in your 80s, and you can act, and you can do podcasts, and you can do a lot of cool stuff. That’s what I can plan and continue doing.”
