A WWE legend is expected to make his in-ring return in AEW.

Mick Foley is one of the most respected men in the world of professional wrestling. During his time as an active competitor, Foley was known for putting his body on the line. Many people still remember the time he was thrown off the top of the Hell in a Cell through the announcer’s desk.

Therefore, Mick Foley earned himself the nickname Hardcore Legend. However, all of those risks meant that Foley’s body is too banged up to wrestle anymore. Foley recently made an appearance for AEW at the Double or Nothing 2026 buy-in show. He even got in the ring and cut a promo before he was interrupted by MJF. Maxwell even hit Foley with a low blow, teasing a potential feud down the road. Since then, Foley has even opened  up during an interview about the role he could play for AEW.

“I think my role is to be the Swiss Army Knife of AEW, to where I work in wherever I can and wherever they need me best. There are quite a few things I can do. I can host the shows with Renee, she is so much fun to work with.

I think I can do a good job on publicity, being sent out a day or two early to get some publicity. I believe I could take on a managerial role for a handful of misfit babyfaces or heels, and take some of the guys in the middle of the card and give them a little boost up closer to the top.”

Vince Russo believes Mick Foley will step back into the ring in AEW

During a recent edition of Behind The Turnbuckle Studios’ The Coach and Bro Show, Vince Russo said that Mick Foley is going to step back into the ring. He also said that it would be the best decision to have him in the ring with someone like MJF who will protect the WWE legend.

“He’s gonna do it. I mean, there’s no question in my mind he’s gonna do it, but obviously you need to put him in there with somebody who’s going to protect him. That’s why when you say it’s MJF, to me, that’s the best decision, and that’s the best choice, because you know the respect MJF will have for him. He will take care of him, and Mick Foley’s not gonna look bad, but I also don’t think, Coach, he’s gonna do anything stupid.”

It remains to be seen if Mick Foley will ever step back into the ring in AEW.
