Mick Foley Teases New On-Screen Role In AEW
Mick Foley recently joined AEW.
For decades, The Hardcore Legend was associated with WWE. He is a one-time WWE Hall of Famer.
In late 2025, Foley quietly let his Legends contract with WWE expire and chose to completely sever ties with and distance himself from the company. The reason was that he was against WWE and TKO leadership’s close alliances with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Once his standard one-year non-compete clause with WWE expired in May 2026, he was cleared to sign with any company, and hence he chose to sign with Tony Khan’s AEW.
At Double or Nothing on May 24, 2026, Mick Foley made his surprise official debut for All Elite Wrestling. He appeared as the co-host of the Buy In pre-show alongside Renee Paquette.
He also had an in-ring segment where he shared an emotional promo about how watching AEW made him fall in love with professional wrestling all over again. MJF interrupted the segment and exchanged verbal barbs with Foley before hitting him with a low blow.
Mick Foley’s Has A Lot Of Ideas For His New On-Screen Role In AEW
Following his AEW debut, Mick Foley sat down for an interview with Ariel Helwani, where he was asked about his role in AEW. This is what Mankind replied:
“I think my role is to be the Swiss Army Knife of AEW, to where I work in wherever I can and wherever they need me best. There are quite a few things I can do. I can host the shows with Renee, she is so much fun to work with.
I think I can do a good job on publicity, being sent out a day or two early to get some publicity. I believe I could take on a managerial role for a handful of misfit babyfaces or heels, and take some of the guys in the middle of the card and give them a little boost up closer to the top.”
