The “Career Killer” Gunther is at it again after making a bold statement on social media.

There was yet another controversial match in a WWE ring this past Monday on Raw when Gunther faced Dragon Lee, who was standing up to bully because of Lee’s friendship with AJ Styles.

Over the last eight months, Gunther has beaten WWE legends Bill Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles in their final matches, which has led to the former 2-time World Champion being called a “Career Killer.”

In their match on the March 3rd edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, Gunther ripped off Lee’s mask while putting on a Sleeper hold, and Lee tapped out to lose the match.

As Gunther took Lee’s mask off, Lee’s face was shown on camera, which is rare for a luchador who wrestles with a mask. That led to a lot of complaints from fans, thinking WWE was wrong to do that.

Fightful Select reports that the controversy surrounding the Dragon Lee angle could be referenced on television in the future, according to WWE sources. Fightful noted that there were no complaints from anyone involved in the segment. Additionally, if WWE didn’t want Lee’s face shown like that, it would be edited for social media.

Also, Gunther taking off Lee’s mask was not an accident, and neither was the camera used to shoot it.

In a post on Instagram, Gunther made the bold claim that Dragon Lee’s career has been killed. Lee is not planning to retire anytime soon and responded in kind.

Another one stupid enough to act brave, another one lost his face, another Career killed!

Lee wrote in response: “No te confundas !!! My career is not over ! You won’t stop me !”

Gunther Admires Cody Rhodes For His WWE Role

During his recent appearance on the What Do You Want To Talk About? With Cody Rhodes podcast, Gunther told the 3-time WWE Champion that he doesn’t have any interest in being a top babyface in WWE who is at the top of the mountain like Rhodes has been. That’s because Gunther is content in his current WWE role as a top heel.

“I like my role and how I do it. I don’t have it in me to be wanting to be the guy that is at the very mountaintop, and everybody looks up to him.

I admire you [Cody Rhodes] sometimes for what you do, because I couldn’t. I would not be able to have that much fan interaction, to have that much media interaction, and all of that. And you do it really good. That’s not for me… I wanna be at the top, but in a different role and contribute that way.”

While Cody Rhodes will defend the WWE Championship against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42, Gunther’s WrestleMania match isn’t yet known, but the talented Austrian will likely be in a featured role, as he is most years.
