Goldberg’s professional wrestling career spanned approximately three decades.

He first made his debut in the pro wrestling world when he joined WCW in 1997. He then went on a decade-long hiatus in 2004 before returning to wrestling in 2015.

In 2016, he made his WWE return and then went on to retire in July 2025. His retirement match took place at the July 12, 2025, edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, and his retirement opponent was Gunther.

Following his retirement from WWE, Goldberg has transitioned into business ventures and family-focused projects.

Goldberg Got Busier After WWE Retirement

The WWE Hall of Famer recently had an interview with Going Ringside, where he opened up about his post-WWE retirement career. He stated that after saying goodbye to WWE, he has gotten busier in life.

When you’re a wrestler, there is no such thing as retirement. So I mean I got TV shows coming up, I got one with my son hopefully on Discovery, Shark Tank and this good god! I got so much going on. It seems as if when I quote, unquote retired, I got more busy.

During the same interview, Goldberg also broke his silence on squashing Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series in 2016. He said that he was excited to face Lesnar, as he considered The Beast Incarnate a mirror image of himself.

“Well yea, that’s not his job, that’s not his decision, it’s none of our decisions. Um at the end of the day, Brock Lesnar was my best opponent because he was a mirror image of myself, just as a blonde wrestler and you know I played football.

And so the dynamic of having two absolute monsters in the ring together, I was more excited than anyone. Because he was a guy that could take it if I hit him.”
