Brock Lesnar squashing superstars is very common in WWE, but someone squashing Lesnar happens rarely.

Not many superstars have had the accomplishment of squashing The Beast Incarnate inside the ring. Only a few have achieved it, and one of those is ex-Universal Champion Goldberg.

After being away from WWE for more than a decade, Goldberg returned to the company at Survivor Series in 2016. His return match was a singles bout against Brock Lesnar, and he beat his opponent in one minute and twenty-five seconds.

Goldberg Was “Excited” To Face Brock Lesnar

Speaking in a new interview with Going Ringside, Goldberg opened up about his 2016 squash match against Lesnar. Goldberg stated that squashing Lesnar was neither his call nor Lesnar’s; it was the creative team’s decision.

He regarded Lesnar as his best opponent in WWE because he felt The Beast was a mirror image of himself, and he also revealed that he was excited to face him one-on-one. He said:

“Well yea, that’s not his job, that’s not his decision, it’s none of our decisions. Um at the end of the day, Brock Lesnar was my best opponent because he was a mirror image of myself, just as a blonde wrestler and you know I played football.

And so the dynamic of having two absolute monsters in the ring together, I was more excited than anyone. Because he was a guy that could take it if I hit him.”

Goldberg retired in July 2025 after a loss to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta, Georgia. Meanwhile, Brock Lesnar is also reportedly heading towards his retirement.

The Beast Incarnate is currently embroiled in a feud with Oba Femi. The two behemoths have already faced each other twice: the first time at WrestleMania 42 and the second time at Clash in Italy. They both have one victory each.

Their third and final match is reportedly being set up for SummerSlam 2026. It will potentially serve as Lesnar’s retirement match in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
