Gable Steveson looks to be leaving wrestling behind.

Despite signing with WWE amid much fanfare in 2021, Gable Steveson was released by the company just five months into 2024. During his career, the amateur wrestling star wrestled only once on television — a match against Baron Corbin which was badly received by fans.

Steveson had been set to appear on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani but was forced to miss the show due to a scheduling conflict. Instead, the star’s manager Dave Martin sent a short statement, revealing he’s been approached by “multiple” NFL teams.

Gable Steveson is very grateful for the opportunities he had with WWE and would like to thank everybody in the organization who helped him get there. He would also like to thank the fans who supported him on his professional wrestling journey. Now, Gable is ready to resume competing against elite level competition and looks forward to sharing big news with you all very soon.

Multiple NFL teams have reached out to Gable Steveson. He has also been training at Kill Cliff FC with Henri Hooft and Robbie Lawler. There is no shortage of opportunities to compete.”

Why Was Gable Steveson Released By WWE?

Following his departure it was revealed Gable Steveson was released because WWE felt he “wasn’t cutting it,” while his “big-money” contract wasn’t exactly helping his cause either.

Despite being part of the WWE Draft in 2021 which saw him move to Raw, Gable Steveson never had a match on the red brand. His only televised match in the company came against Baron Corbin at the 2023 Great American Bash with that contest ending in a double count out.
