Ex-WWE Star To Become Free Agent

WWE Logo over Roster

A former WWE Superstar is heading for free agency.

It is a time of great change and excitement in the pro wrestling world with WWE now under the umbrella of TKO Group and out of the majority ownership of Vince McMahon. With AEW, IMPACT Wrestling, Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and countless other independent companies running shows, it could be argued that pro wrestlers have more choice than ever when it comes to employment and that could come in handy for one ex-WWE star.

Fightful Select has reported that former WWE Superstar Heath Slater could be heading for free agency. Known as Heath in IMPACT Wrestling, the star will be a free agent come October unless he strikes a new deal with the promotion before then.

Heath was released by WWE in early 2020 as cuts decimated the roster over the next two years, however, he did return for a one-off appearance in July of that year where he faced his former 3MB partner and then-WWE Champion Drew McIntyre.

He then debuted for IMPACT Wrestling just a couple of weeks later where he challenged Moose for the IMPACT World Championship. Heath’s time in the promotion was stopped in its tracks by injury which caused him to miss a year from the ring. Heath will be a part of IMPACT’s 1000th episode as a participant in the Feast or Fired battle royal that will air on the 14th of September. What the future holds for the former Nexus member remains to be seen.

WWE could be bringing a new name

An unofficial hiring freeze was in force in WWE during the period while the Endeavor takeover was completed but now it seems that is over. The company has already brought back former Raw Women’s Champion Nia Jax who returned to the red brand to take out Rhea Ripley and Raquel Rodriguez.

Now it seems another star is on their way to bolster the women’s division in the company with former TBS Champion Jade Cargill believed to be on her way out of AEW.
