Ex-WWE Champion Might Not Be Around For Long As TNA Deal Revealed
A former WWE champion made a huge splash recently when they made their wrestling comeback in TNA, but it might not be for the long haul.
TNA’s debut on AMC had been hoped to be yet another rebirth for the company, crucially perhaps this time with WWE backing it to challenge AEW as the number two brand in North America.
However, what unfolded was panned by fans and critics alike, many labelling it one of the worst shows ever aired. Mike Santana was able to reclaim the TNA World Championship from Frankie Kazarian, but the show ended before a post-match angle could air involving Nic Nemeth and his part in the title rematch to take place two days later at the Genesis PPV.
The Elegance Brand bizarrely debuted an almost unknown AJZ as Mr Elegance to the sound of complete indifference. There were two surprises, at least, as former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Sonya Deville debuted as an authority figure now going by the name Daria Rae. After cosying up to Director of Authority Santino Marella, she immediately turned on him and welcomed the company’s newest signing, Elayna Black – the former Cora Jade.
But it seems that Daria Rae might not be long for the Impact Zone.
6-Month TNA Deal For Former WWE Star
Speaking on Busted Open, Daria Rae revealed that she had only signed a six-month deal with TNA, but is open to a more long-term arrangement if things work out:
I signed a six month deal, I’ll tell you guys that. But I plan on seeing it through. I’m having a lot of fun. Everything’s going great so far, and as long as it’s a continuously mutually beneficial situation, meaning I’m adding value and I feel good about what I’m getting in return, then I don’t see why it wouldn’t continue long term.
Rae last competed in the ring back in February 2025 when she took on Natalya on WWE Main Event. It remains to be seen if lacing up her boots is part of her short-term deal with TNA.
