SmackDown Star May Not Wrestle In WWE After SummerSlam 2026
WWE SummerSlam 2026 will see the SmackDown General Manager return to the ring after almost three years to fight Gunther.
Aldis hasn’t been seeing eye to eye with The Ring General for a while now because of the latter’s World title shot demands. Gunther finally snapped on SmackDown a few weeks ago and attacked the blue brand GM. In retaliation, Aldis cost Gunther his match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The two rivals met again at the WWE SummerSlam 2026 kickoff stage, where they got into a nasty fight. Triple H, who was standing alongside them on the stage, made their match official for SummerSlam on August 1-2.
Fans are eager to see Nick Aldis return to the ring after a long time. But a recent report has provided some disappointing news for the fans. Aldis’ SummerSlam match might be his last, as he might not wrestle in WWE after that.
SummerSlam Performance Will Decide Nick Aldis’ In-Ring Future In WWE
According to JoeyVotes, during a recent Q&A session, Nick Aldis’ return at SummerSlam is expected to be a one-off match.
However, it was added that if Aldis manages to deliver a blockbuster performance at the Biggest Party of the Summer, WWE might consider booking him in more matches; otherwise, he’ll be returned to his general manager role.
It depends on the performance, the reaction, and how he feels about doing it. So if he walks in there and steals the show, it’s hard to say we’re not gonna do it again. If he hits a home run, he could go on a little run.”
TC also said the same, suggesting that Nick Aldis’ in-ring future will depend solely on his performance at SummerSlam next month.
This opportunity is a one-and-done, but it’s not gonna close the door forever. So it’s not the start of a main roster run. It won’t mean he won’t be the GM of SmackDown. This particular program is a one-and-done, but it could open itself to additional opportunities down the road.”
