Emotional WWE Star Confirms Release

WWE logo over blurred Cameron Grimes Baron Corbin

WWE is no longer heading straight to the moon after the company made the decision to release Cameron Grimes from his contract.

On April 19th, WWE released Jinder Mahal, Xyon Quinn, Xia Li, Veer, and Sanga. The departures caught many by surprise with the news breaking while SmackDown was on the air. To add to the confusion, Xia Li had just been featured in a video setting up a Battle Royal to determine a new Women’s World Champion on Raw.

While the majority of those released looked to the future, Sanga hit out at WWE for its handling and presentation of Indian talent. The now-former WWE Superstar pointed out the apparent hypocrisy in the company looking to ensure it has a presence in India while undervaluing and simply not utilising Indian talent.

It was later reported that Von Wagner had also been let go from his deal with one report suggesting the reason for his departure.

WWE Roster Takes Another Hit

Taking to social media, Cameron Grimes – who introduced himself as Trevor Lee – shared a video where he was clearly emotional and revealed that he had received the call from WWE that he was being released from his contract.

Grimes had been drafted to SmackDown as part of the 2023 WWE Draft but only featured on the blue brand nine times and of those, he only won in his first two matches. Grimes’ time in WWE will best be remembered for his memorable storyline with WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase and LA Knight that saw Grimes become Million Dollar Champion.
