ECW Legend The Sandman’s Bizarre Final Opponent Revealed
The final opponent of ECW icon The Sandman has been revealed, and it’s a name that you could easily miss.
2025 was the year of retirements in WWE. Goldberg had the final match of his career in July when he lost out to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
On December 13th, 17-time WWE Champion John Cena competed in his final match. Gunther was again the opponent, and The Ring General shocked everyone when he made Cena meekly tap out to his sleeper hold.
The retirement theme continued into 2026 with NJPW Ace, Hiroshi Tanahashi, hanging up his boots after one last Wrestle Kingdom main event against his old rival, Kazuchika Okada. Gunther was at it again in WWE, this time defeating AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble, a loss that forced Styles to also retire from the ring. Although the Phenomenal One might not be ready to hang up his boots just yet.
Now, it’s the turn of ECW legend and former WWE star The Sandman to have one last match.
You Can’t See The Sandman’s Opponent
Joey Janela announced on social media that his Spring Break show in Las Vegas on April 17th, The Sandman will go one-on-one in his last match with perhaps the most dangerous opponent he’s had to date – The Invisible Man.
The Invisible Man has form at Spring Break, winning the Clusterf*ck battle royal by last eliminating current AEW World Champion MJF in 2018. A year later, The Sandman’s opponent defeated his hated rival, Invisible Stan, in an all-time mat classic.
