AJ Styles Will Come Out Of WWE Retirement, Says Ex-Rival
A former rival of AJ Styles believes that he may not be done with wrestling.
Styles’ feud with Jeff Jarrett in TNA in the mid-2000s is often likened to an old guard vs. new phenom storyline, which culminated in a ‘passing of the baton’ match at Hard Justice 2005.
The match pushed Styles towards glory, where he became the new face of the company, as he defeated Jarrett to become the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion.
The Phenomenal One officially joined World Wrestling Entertainment in 2016 to much fanfare. He was a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match, coming in at #3.
Since then, he has been involved in various storylines, one even with John Cena that saw the two old horses compete and trade wins.
AJ Styles was also part of Cena’s retirement tour, wrestling him in a singles match at Crown Jewel in Perth, Australia.
On the eve of the same event, he announced that 2026 would be his final year in wrestling.
AJ Styles Will Compete Again, According To Jeff Jarrett
While many fans speculated that AJ Styles would commit to a retirement-like tour, learning that his match against Gunther at the 2026 Royal Rumble could be his last was hard to fathom for them.
And that is what happened, as Styles failed to respond to the referee’s calls after he was locked in a chokehold by The Ring General.
Since then, several reports have claimed that the 48-year-old might return at a later date, something that even Jeff Jarrett echoed during a recent episode of his My World podcast.
We have not seen the last of AJ Styles in the ring. Look, it may be a year, it may be two years, I don’t know.
I think AJ’s stock, if he’s on the ticker, over the last week or two has risen. Would you buy AJ stock right now? If we were giving stock recommendations, I would give it a buy, that’s for sure.
Out of Goldberg, Cena, and AJ, out of those three, I thought Gunther built more equity in the Gunther character by beating AJ than the others by far. That was well done. But no, I don’t think we’ve seen the last of it. The taking off the gloves and all that stuff, it’s curious. [H/T: Ringside News]
