Drew McIntyre has not been seen on WWE television for a couple of weeks.

The SmackDown superstar last competed at WrestleMania 42, where he fought Jacob Fatu in an Unsanctioned Match.

The Scottish Psychopath and The Samoan Werewolf were embroiled in a heated feud, which began late last year. In October, Fatu was found backstage, bloodied and laid out by a mystery attacker, forcing him to miss several months of action.

While WWE did not reveal the actual perpetrator behind the attack, Fatu believed it to be McIntyre, who claimed innocence more than once.

Fatu also played a role in Drew McIntyre becoming the Undisputed Champion, inadvertently costing Cody Rhodes a 3 Stages of Hell match in January 2026.

A couple of months later, Fatu cost McIntyre the chance to retain his title against Rhodes, setting up an intense feud with the Scotsman.

While WWE has been building towards Backlash, Drew McIntyre’s absence has been noted by fans.

A report by PWInsider has now revealed that the 40-year-old has been filming the remainder of his scenes for the Highlander reboot movie in Scotland, which also stars Henry Cavill. McIntyre plays Cavill’s brother, named Angus MacLeod, in the film.

Is Drew McIntyre Considering Retirement From Wrestling?

Since being a kid, Drew McIntyre had his sights set on becoming a wrestler. That dream became a reality in 2001, when he began wrestling professionally in the independent circuit.

Before signing up for the Highlander reboot, he made his debut in The Killer’s Game, which starred former WWE Champion Dave Batista.

Though McIntyre has not exclusively expressed interest in pursuing an acting career, he is taking on opportunities outside of wrestling to show his range.

During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on the Insight podcast, he was asked about how long he saw himself wrestling. In response, The Scottish Warrior compared his career with the likes of footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and LeBron James, who are active in their respective fields while being in their 40s.

I know my wife feels like it’s gonna be a lot shorter than I probably feel it’s going to be, especially with how I feel now and how creatively fulfilled I feel these days.

But as long as I’m happy, as long as she’s happy, and as long as the fans are happy with what I’m doing, I don’t see any reason to slow down anytime soon, especially when I see guys getting up there in age right now and moving as well as they’re moving right now, because we’ve just moved so far forward with athletes. Look at LeBron James or Ronaldo, for example, the same age as me, and they’re just still at the top of their game.
