Drew McIntyre Believes WWE Rival Is A “Genuinely Horrible Person”
Drew McIntyre isn’t shy about trashing other wrestlers on the WWE roster.
As one of the top heels in WWE, Drew McIntyre has had lengthy rivalries with CM Punk throughout 2024 and with Cody Rhodes in late 2025, going into 2026.
When comparing the two rivalries, most fans and pundits would credit the McIntyre-Punk rivalry for being one of the best WWE feuds of the 2020s. While the McIntyre-Rhodes rivalry involved the Undisputed WWE Championship, it didn’t provide as many classic moments and matches.
While speaking to The TakeDown on Sports Illustrated, Drew McIntyre bashed CM Punk for being a horrible person.
“I mean, Punk is the worst human being on planet Earth. So, I can start with that. He’s a genuinely horrible, horrible person. I won’t take away his toughness, Cody as well. They can take an absolute beating like no other and I’ve gave them absolutely everything.
“In the end, Punk defeated me at Hell in the Cell. Not because he was a better man, but because of severe blood loss and I was breaking my back on the steps. Eventually, we’ll have another showdown where I take him down.”
It’s certainly possible that McIntyre is speaking in character when he says those things about Punk, but he’s also consistently said things like that for many years.
Drew McIntyre Accuses Cody Rhodes Of Taking Shortcuts
As for Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre didn’t mince words when talking about him and how he conducts business in WWE.
“For Cody, he’s a little different in the sense that I know how good he is. I know how great he is and he could just rely on his talent. Go on that.
I don’t know why he just has to be the golden boy, has to take every little shortcut he can, whether it’s on screen, off screen, and play this big smiley guy. I know part of that is really him, but I know part of it is not him.”
Unfortunately for Drew McIntyre, he lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to “Golden Boy” Rhodes on the March 7th edition of SmackDown, which put an end to McIntyre’s reign at around two months.
That WWE Title change didn’t sit well with many fans, who have sounded off against Cody’s wins by clicking the “Dislike” button on WWE’s YouTube channel.
