Drew McIntyre Sends Scary Warning To John Cena
Drew McIntyre wants to go one-on-one with John Cena.
While WWE started its new era on January 6th as Monday Night Raw debuted on Netflix, the episode marked the beginning of the end for one of the company’s biggest-ever names.
On the show, John Cena began his retirement tour by declaring himself for the Royal Rumble. During a heartfelt promo, Cena said he’s looking to pull off one more miracle before he hangs up his boots, and he’s ready to win the Rumble match and become a 17-time World Champion at WrestleMania.
However, although Cena kicked off his year in style, things didn’t quite go to plan for Drew McIntyre who lost to Jey Uso. But even so, the comments from Cena didn’t go unnoticed by the Scottish star.
Drew McIntyre Is Ready To Take Out John Cena
When asked by the Babyfaces podcast for his reaction to Cena declaring for the Royal Rumble, McIntyre had a simple and typically violent message.
“Good luck. I want time on the microphone with him and I want that one-on-one match, and I’m going to make it happen, one way or another.
Let’s just hope he doesn’t end up in the ring with me in the Rumble because the last person who got in my way at the Rumble last year and was aiming to main event WrestleMania was CM Punk, and I tore his tricep off the bone. I’ll maybe ask Cena to pick the muscle or pick the bone because I’m tearing it or breaking it.”
In the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble match, Drew McIntyre almost ended CM Punk’s big comeback before it ever got going. During one exchange, Punk suffered a serious triceps injury while taking a Future Shock DDT.
Punk would remain out of action until SummerSlam in August, while the incident sparked a rivalry between the pair that ran until Bad Blood. At the event, Punk defeated McIntyre in a stunningly violent Hell In A Cell match.
