Cody Rhodes Made Unique Request For New Contract Signed Outside WWE
Cody Rhodes revealed a clause he has in a contract that’s not part of his WWE deal.
Anybody who has ever watched the Cody Rhodes-hosted “What Do You Wanna Talk About?” podcast knows that the presenting sponsor is Wheatley vodka.
On every episode of his podcast, the 3-time WWE Champion Rhodes and his guest have a drink (or several) while using Wheatley.
In addition to the podcast and the Wheatley logo appearing on his bus, Cody Rhodes also appears in Wheatley commercials.
Cody Rhodes revealed on his newest What Do You Want To Talk About? podcast with Diamond Dallas Page, that he has it in his contract to feature legendary wrestlers in the Wheatley commercials.
“I did a contract recently, it’s not anything major or life-changing. Our friends at Whealey are indeed our friends at Wheatley I did this contract recently and I put at the end, I just want to select a legend for the TVC portion. I wanted to be able to put someone from our Hall of Fame group, one of our legends. I’ve come to realize that my only answer for why is that it’s the right thing to do.”
It’s a noble tribute by Rhodes, who recently filmed a Wheatley commercial with WWE Hall of Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, and also SmackDown’s Carmelo Hayes, the former US Champion. A photo is below.
Cody Rhodes Is A Survivor Of WWE Creative
While discussing the creative process in WWE, Cody Rhodes recently said he doesn’t always know whether a storyline will work, but he’ll do his best to survive it.
“You know, here’s something that I’ve adopted at Backstage and the real cameras have, they’ve seen me say it enough that I feel like they now know what I mean. But we run in all these situations where it’s WrestleMania this year, for example, or the title change in Germany. And let’s pivot, let’s make some different moves and all this. And oh, there’s a lot of momentum behind Drew. Do people love Drew? And as they should. He’s awesome.
I always tell people because people will say I don’t know if that’s good for you or you know, and I don’t know if I mean it arrogantly. I think I just mean it from my own experience. But what I tell them is I can survive it.
That’s what I tell everyone. Michael Hayes has heard me say it a lot. Mr. Heyman’s heard me say it a lot, is I can survive it. I don’t know if that’s good or bad, but I felt like as a babyface, it’s becoming a powerful trait.”
On the June 19th edition of WWE SmackDown, Cody Rhodes will put the WWE Title on the line against his rival, Gunther. Cody will also have to deal with Sami Zayn as the special guest referee, who was chosen as the referee of the match by Gunther. Here’s the SmackDown lineup.
