As Money in the Bank day arrives, there continues to be speculation regarding the WWE return of Drew McIntyre.

It’s been three months since we have seen Drew McIntyre on WWE television. That was at WrestleMania 39 when he had one of the best matches of his career as a challenger for GUNTHER’s Intercontinental Title along with Drew’s best friend Sheamus. The three powerful European athletes beat the hell out of eachother while having one of the best matches of the year.

That was also around the same time when we first learned that Drew’s WWE contract will expire early next year and that no contract extension has been signed yet. Some reports have claimed that Drew has been frustrated with his creative direction in WWE as well as what he is getting paid by the company.

For the past month, there have been many reports about the possibility of McIntyre returning at today’s Money in the Bank PLE. That’s because as a Scottish wrestler, the reaction he would receive from the British crowd in London, England would be massive, so having Drew make his return during Money in the Bank would be epic.

Two weeks ago, Drew McIntyre was representing WWE in Berlin, Germany at the Special Olympics World Games as a Global Ambassador for the company. It was the first time Drew was really mentioned by WWE since May’s WWE Draft when he was a Raw draft pick after spending the last couple of years on Smackdown.

In the latest update on Drew’s possible WWE Return, PWInsider Elite’s Mike Johnson reported that they were told it will come down to a creative choice. They also added that it was unknown if McIntyre was in London where WWE was staying, but it’s possible that he was hiding from the public eye or maybe in Scotland where his family lives.

Find out later today at Money in the Bank if Drew McIntyre is back in WWE or if he’s going to remain on the sidelines.
