Drew McIntyre Says He’ll Go Through The Rock To Get Roman Reigns

Drew McIntyre lost in a cheap manner at Clash at the Castle, but the Scottish Warrior still has his sights set on Roman Reigns even if he has to go through The Rock.

The main event of WWE Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales saw Roman Reigns defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Title against Drew McIntyre, who is a UK wrestler in the main event of a UK stadium show with 60,000+ fans. Just when it looked like McIntyre had the match won with a Claymore Kick, Roman’s younger cousin Solo Sikoa (the younger brother of The Usos) appeared at ringside and broke up the up. Reigns hit a Spear on McIntyre shortly after that to retain his titles in a cheap manner.

In an interview with Dallas Morning News, McIntyre talked about having to deal with Bloodline and next up dealing with Karrion Kross in a brutal Strap Match. When McIntyre was asked “can you not just get a couple of regular matches?” he responded with:

“No [laughs]. I don’t think so. I suffer for the company, suffer from my art – constantly, it feels like. But that comes with the territory being the workhorse of WWE, being the conscience, I guess, of WWE. You ain’t gonna find Roman Reigns doing the schedule that I do. I keep the championship schedule. I’m happy to do it. I’m happy to do the media responsibilities. I’m happy to represent the company on the weekend live events. This is my dream. It’s a privilege to do it. And if it involves getting beat with chairs … still be involved in the strap match with Kross, who has managed to divert my attention away from the title, so be it. Even though he keeps attacking me from behind. If it’s not him attacking me, it’s his girl [Scarlett] low blowing me from behind. I’ll do what I have to do get through all these new challenges and get my way back to Roman.”

When talking about the family of Reigns, McIntyre went on to mention potentially dealing with Roman’s cousin The Rock some day.

“And apparently, I’ll have to go through not just The Bloodline – because I did that prior to Clash at the Castle – then the elders and a new member [Solo Sikoa]. I’m going to have to literally go through the entire family like door to door. And I like The Rock a lot. It’s gonna pain me deeply when I go through the entire family, have to go to Hollywood, tap The Rock’s door and say, ‘I’m sorry, brother,’ then beat them him in his own doorstep because it’s the only way I’m gonna get that title off Roman.”

Perhaps Drew was being a bit facetious with his remarks going door to door, but the point remains that anybody that wants to get the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion from Roman Reigns will have to deal with some members of Roman’s family.

It is not currently known if The Rock will wrestle in a WWE ring again although there have been rumors that he may compete against Reigns at WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles in April 2023. That will be ten years after The Rock’s last lengthy match at WrestleMania 29 against John Cena. The “match” at WrestleMania 32 with Erick Rowan consisted of a simple Rock Bottom, so that really wasn’t much of a match. At 50 years old, The Rock is as busy as ever with movies, TV shows, owning the XFL, his tequila business, and of course eating huge cheat meals as he likes to post on Instagram.
