Swerve Strickland Shuts Down WWE Star’s Shot At AEW
Swerve Strickland has hit back at Grayson Waller after the WWE star took a shot at AEW.
During recent media rounds to promote an upcoming WWE show in Jacksonville, Florida, Grayson Waller made a dig at All Elite Wrestling, which calls the city home. Speaking on Going Ringside with News4Jax, Waller joked that there would “finally be good wrestling in Jacksonville.”
Finally, some good wrestling in Jacksonville. I feel like it’s been years since we’ve seen some really good wrestling in Jacksonville.
Swerve Strickland, who captured the AEW World Championship at Dynasty, recently made his own News4Jax appearance, and responded to the shot. Although not mentioning him by name, Strickland complimented Waller before claiming that AEW has the best wrestling in Jacksonville and everywhere else in the world.
“Obviously [it was a shot at AEW]. I love the subtleties. This person that said that, congratulations on their championship gold. Amazing. You were awesome when you were watching me in the seats when I was being a champion over where you were as well. Happy to see where you progressed too, but let’s be real, we are the best wrestling. Not just in Jacksonville, but anywhere. In the world. I stand on business on that.”
Chris Jericho Called For Swerve Strickland To Win AEW World Title Months Before Dynasty

During the clip, Jericho said that he believed Swerve was “our guy” at least six months ago, before saying he would have had him reach the top of the company two months before he did.
