Triple H Thinks NXT Is Looking Bright Under New Champion

Triple H WWE

A new era of NXT is upon us as the brand celebrates a new champion and Triple H thinks the future is brighter as a result.

Ilja Dragunov captured the NXT Championship for the first time in September 2023 when he defeated Carmelo Hayes for the gold at No Mercy. Dragunov dominated as champion, successfully defending the gold several times but at Spring Breakin’ his time as champion was up.

Trick Williams called his title shot against Dragunov after defeating Carmelo Hayes at Stand & Deliver, but Dragunov would only accept that challenge if Williams put his NXT career on the line. Williams agreed and the match was set.

Triple H Pays Tribute To Trick Williams

At NXT Spring Breakin’, Trick Williams defeated Dragunov for the gold after laying out the Russian star with his Trick Knee. After the match, Dragunov embraced the new champion and handed Williams the title belt as a new era of NXT began.

Taking to social media, Triple H congratulated Trick Williams on his victory and thinks the future of NXT with its new champion looks bright:

Congratulations to @_trickwilliams on a hard-fought match, and a well-deserved victory, against one of #WWENXT’s toughest in @UNBESIEGBAR_ZAR. The era of Trick Williams is looking bright. #NXTSpringBreakin#AndNew

As a result of his win, Trick Williams becomes the 23rd man to hold the NXT Championship since the title was created in 2012.
