Another WWE Star Released

WWE Logo over Roster

Another name has been added to the list of WWE releases.

On April 19th, WWE released Jinder Mahal, Xyon Quinn, Xia Li, Veer, and Sanga. The departures caught many by surprise with the news breaking while SmackDown was on the air. To add to the confusion, Xia Li had just been featured in a video setting up a Battle Royal to determine a new Women’s World Champion on Raw.

Following the releases it was reported that WWE put them down to “budget cuts,” although it’s unclear whether this was passed on to talent.

While the majority of those released looked to the future, Sanga hit out at WWE for its handling and presentation of Indian talent. The now-former WWE Superstar pointed out the apparent hypocrisy in the company looking to ensure it has a presence in India while undervaluing and simply not utilising Indian talent.

WWE Parts Company With Von Wagner

Meanwhile, it’s been reported by Fightful Select that Von Wagner was also released on April 19th. The star made his most recent in-ring appearance on the April 2nd episode of NXT where Lexis King defeated him.

Wagner — real name Calvin Bloom, signed with the sports entertainment giant back in 2019 and became a regular part of the NXT roster two years later. Although Wagner was involved in the Draft in 2023, there were never any plans for him to move to the main roster.

Calvin is the son of Wayne Bloom who worked for the AWA, WCW, and the WWF across an 11-year career from 1988 to 1999.
