Dragon Lee WWE NXT Debut Update

Dragon Lee is expected to appear on WWE NXT TV very soon with a key storyline likely in place for his debut.

The year 2022 ended with a major signing announcement for the WWE NXT brand. On December 28, 2022, Dragon Lee and his brother Dralistico defeated FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) to win the AAA Tag Team titles. After the match, Dragon Lee announced his decision to sign with World Wrestling Entertainment. It was reported by ESPN that Lee was joining the WWE NXT brand.

In an update on when Dragon Lee might appear in NXT, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that it will likely happen very soon.

“Dragon Lee is hoped to arrive next week. It’s not a for sure, but that is the expectation. He signed in December and was to debut in early January, the problems with getting a visa have kept him from coming in. It appears the plan is to link him in a feud with Grayson Waller since he already tweeted something in that direction.”

The reason Dragon Lee’s WWE debut has been delayed from the original plan in January is due to getting a work visa.

Grayson Waller is currently in a storyline with NXT’s main booker and WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels. Waller has been complaining about Michaels showing favoritism to other wrestlers like NXT Champion Bron Breakker and Carmelo Hayes while Waller believes that he should be the most featured superstar in NXT.

Waller’s problems with Michaels will lead to Michaels as a guest on next week’s NXT TV show on Waller’s “Grayson Waller Effect” talk show. It was officially announced on this week’s NXT broadcast.

Since Dragon Lee is expected to arrive in NXT possibly next week as mentioned above, it’s likely a case of WWE debuting Lee in a rivalry against Waller. They could save Lee’s debut match in NXT for Waller at NXT Stand & Deliver on April 1st, for example.

Here’s a recent Twitter exchange between Dragon Lee and Grayson Waller.

If you don’t know much about him, Dragon Lee is a talented 27-year-old luchador who wrestles with a mask on. Lee has not wrestled for a major wrestling promotion on a full-time basis before, but he has been a champion in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Ring of Honor, AAA and CMLL. Lee also comes from a wrestling family. His father is a luchador named La Bestia del Ring and he has also teamed a lot with his brother Dralistico in Mexico. Lee’s other brother, Rush, works for AEW.
