Dog Collar Match Announced for AEW Revolution on March 6

cm punk aew dog collar match

The second match between AEW rivals CM Punk and Maxwell Jacob Friedman will be a Dog Collar Match at AEW Revolution on March 6.

CM Punk was allowed to choose the date of the match as well as the stipulation due to a win on the February 9 edition of Dynamite when Punk teamed up with Jon Moxley to defeat FTR.

Last night on AEW Dynamite, Punk made it clear he wanted to make MJF bleed in a match that would put them to a test and it would take place at AEW Revolution in Orlando on March 6th.

After Punk announced the match that he wanted, he called for MJF to come onto the stage so Punk could share something with him. It was a photo of MJF when he was a child when he got to meet CM Punk. Punk mocked MJF saying it was the greatest day of MJF’s life and their match at Revolution will be the worst day of MJF’s life.

Normally MJF is the kind of guy to always fire back with some interesting comments, but he wasn’t able to do that this time. MJF was flustered and he simply walked to the back without saying a word. Later on Dynamite, AEW made the match official.

The first time Punk wrestled MJF was on AEW Dynamite on February 2nd in Chicago. MJF beat Punk in his hometown thanks to an assist from Wardlow. It was a great match that went over 40 minutes. Due to the controversial finish, it’s no surprise that AEW is choosing to have Punk face MJF in a rematch.

This will be the second Dog Collar Match in AEW history. The first Dog Collar Match in AEW saw Cody Rhodes defeat the late, great Brodie Lee to become the TNT Champion on October 7, 2020.

Some of the other matches that are likely for AEW Revolution are:

* “Hangman” Adam Page defending the AEW World Championship vs. Adam Cole.

* Bryan Danielson vs. Jon Moxley.

* Britt Baker defending the AEW Women’s Championship vs. Thunder Rosa.

* Chris Jericho vs. Eddie Kingston.

* An official match will see AEW Tag Team Champions Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy defending their titles against two teams that will earn the title matches in the next two weeks in battle royals.

* There will also be a “Face of the Revolution” Ladder Match with Keith Lee and Wardlow as the first two men to qualify for it.

With AEW Revolution set to take place on March 6, we should be getting more official match announcements soon.
