The John Report: AEW Dynamite 02/16/22 Review

aew dynamite feb 16

This week’s AEW Dynamite featured a TNT Title Match with Sammy Guevara defending the gold against Darby Allin while members of the Inner Circle faced off against each other to settle their issues.

I really enjoyed last week’s show with a 9 out of 10 rating, so here’s hoping they can continue the positive momentum as we head towards AEW Revolution on pay-per-view on Sunday, March 6th. Tonight’s AEW episode is the first one since the company announced Cody Rhodes is no longer part of AEW. After three years in AEW, Cody and his wife Brandi are gone.

This is AEW Dynamite episode #124 at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. Follow me on Twitter @johnreport. Let’s get to it.

It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means. Jim Ross welcomed us to the show with Excalibur and Tony Schiavone on commentary.

Let’s Hear from CM Punk

CM Punk was seated in the ring for a promo wearing a “MID” MJF shirt. Punk told us his name saying he’s drug-free, he’s alcohol-free and that means he’s better than you. Punk said he spoke those words for the first time over 20 years ago and they became the foundation of his career. Punk said he can feel pride knowing that some wrestlers in the next generation became wrestlers like him and some of them even sit like Punk does. Punk mentioned MJF, which drew boos and Punk said that MJF can never think like him. Punk said when MJF beat Punk in Punk’s hometown (Chicago), you’d think Punk would be furious or mad, but Punk said he is proud of MJF. Punk said that MJF is shitty little Max from shitty little Long Island. Punk said because of last week, thanks to Jon Moxley for the assist, Punk gets to pick the time, the place, the date and the match for his rematch with Little Max.

Punk said that it will be at Revolution on March 6th in Orlando. Punk talked about the match type noting that if it was a cage match then MJF could still run away or maybe Wardlow could get in. Punk said he’s won more cage matches than he lost and losing got him thinking of one of the toughest matches he ever lest. Punk said losing a tough match is when you really learn. Punk talked about matches where he literally left pieces of himself in the ring. Punk said that Piper had his question and then Punk asked MJF if he would be Punk’s “valentine” while holding a Dog Collar chain for a Dog Collar Match. Punk said that sometimes you need to be taught a lesson and Punk called for MJF to come out there now so Punk can tell him something to his face.

MJF stood on the stage as Punk remained seated in the ring. Punk showed a picture of when MJF met Punk at an autograph signing when MJF was a kid. Punk said it was possibly MJF’s greatest day of his life and to Punk it was just Friday. Punk said that March 6 is going to be the worst day of MJF’s life and the canvas won’t be stained by MJF’s shitty spray tan – it will be stained by MJF’s blood. Punk put the Dog Collar chain around his neck while fans chanted for him. MJF was about to speak, but he said nothing and went to the back. Tony mentioned the first Dog Collar Match was Cody Rhodes vs. Brodie Lee. Punk celebrated as his music played.

Analysis: That was all Punk on the promo with MJF choosing to not say a word. A Dog Collar Match is rare, but it’s also the right kind of match for Punk and MJF because it’s going to be a bloody brawl. Awesome promo by Punk as usual. Punk made his points well as usual, it made sense and the crowd loved it.

A video aired about Bryan Danielson facing Lee Moriarty. The video showed Bryan wanting to work with Jon Moxley while also telling the young Lee Moriarty to show Bryan how violent he can be.

The AEW Tag Team Champions Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy with their “uncle” Christian Cage were interviewed by Tony Schiavone. It was mentioned that their match at Revolution will be a triple threat title match with some matches in the coming weeks to determine the opponents. The champions did a generic babyface promo about how they will beat whoever they will face.

Bryan Danielson (side note I wrote “Daniel Bryan” first before I fixed it because it’s an old habit) made his entrance first followed by Lee Moriarty, who is 5-2 this year so far. Matt Sydal was with Lee, but then he went to the back. Wins in Youtube matches I guess. They showed actress Melissa Joan Hart at ringside. She’s a Nashville resident according to the graphic.

Bryan Danielson vs. Lee Moriarty

Bryan got an armbar takedown, then they got back up and Bryan smacked him hard in the jaw. Bryan stepped on the back of Lee’s legs and then did a surfboard submission leading into a dragon sleeper, but Lee gouged the eyes a bit to break free. Bryan got to the ropes to avoid a submission. Bryan with another palm strike to the jaw. Lee broke free leading to a kick to the left arm. JR just said “Daniel Bryan” by mistake as Bryan jumped off the turnbuckle and then Lee hit an uppercut. Bryan worked over Lee with kicks while against the ropes followed by a knee to the face. They went to a picture in picture break.

(Commercial)

Bryan and Lee did a spot where their legs were locked up, then they were on their heads exchanging strikes and the crowd got into it. Lee went for strikes, Bryan got out of it and went for a LeBell Lock, but Lee got to the bottom rope. The fans chanted “this is awesome.” They loved the dudes on their heads. Lee caught Bryan with a belly to back suplex. Bryan and Lee exchanged forearms, then Lee got a backslide pin for two and Bryan did another had palm strike to the face. Lee came back with elbows to the face, Bryan hit a rolling elbow and when Bryan tried a move, Lee hit him with a clothesline. Bryan caught him after that. Lee hit a belly-to-belly suplex for two. Lee with forearms to the back followed by the Border City Stretch submission on the head/arm like a crossface and Bryan countered into a pin for two. Bryan with a shoulder capture suplex followed by a smirk on his face. Bryan with a running knee to the face with Lee looking like he was out, but Bryan chose not to cover him. Bryan held Lee’s arms leading to repeated stomps to the head and Bryan applied a triangle choke sleeper while flexing. Lee was out, so Bryan won by submission. It was about ten minutes.

Winner by submission: Bryan Danielson

Analysis: ***1/2 Very good wrestling match here. It was what I expected it to be with Bryan getting the decisive win while Lee put up a good fight. Lee is really good and he got to show a lot here. Bryan never has bad matches as we know. There were a few pin attempts by Lee, but it’s not like anybody watching this thought that Bryan was going to lose to this guy. They still need to develop Lee more, so working with Bryan will help him. I certainly enjoy watching Lee’s matches because his offense looks good. I just think it’s tough to break through in AEW right now due to how bloated the roster is.

Bryan did a promo about teaching Lee Moriarty about violence. Bryan asked if they thought Lee learned, the crowd was a bit mixed and Bryan ripped on them for it. Bryan said he approached Jon Moxley with an offer to team up to teach wrestlers about violence and he wanted an answer from Moxley.

Jon Moxley made his entrance by coming in through the crowd while Bryan was in the ring. Moxley said that a little over a decade ago, he was like a lot of kids in the AEW locker room. Moxley said he was young, angry, he was poor and he had nothing to lose. Moxley said he took a shot at taking down the great “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson. Moxley talked about how he had a match with Bryan in Ohio, he was late due to the weather and they had Tracy Smothers entertain the fans. Moxley said that it was the first time they met where Moxley got to stand face to face against the man they called the best wrestler in the world. Moxley said he came up short, but getting a taste of the best made him want more. Moxley said that every single time he faced Danielson, he came up short and he said that he’s never beaten Danielson. Moxley said when Bryan came to AEW, he thought he could slay the one dragon he wanted to slay – the American Dragon. Moxley said Danielson doesn’t want to fight because he wants to join forces with him. Moxley talked about how awesome it could be if they fought together. Moxley said they can create a dynasty of pure wrestling violence. Moxley said they can create something together by bringing young guys and leaving a legacy. Moxley said that he couldn’t think of one good reason to say no so the fans chanted “YES” at that. Moxley said that maybe Bryan wants to fight with Moxley because he doesn’t want to go against Moxley. That led to Moxley saying Bryan didn’t want Moxley to do to him what he’s done to everybody else for the last three years. Moxley wondered did Danielson want to be his partner because of what they can create or because Danielson doesn’t want to be destroyed? Moxley said he’s not saying yes or no and said he’ll leave it up to him. Moxley said he doesn’t stand side by side with nobody until he bleeds with him first. Moxley stared at Bryan’s face as he said. The fans cheered as Moxley left.

Analysis: Excellent promo by Moxley. I like what he said, how he said it and how Bryan reacted to it. It sounds like they are going to set up a Moxley match against Bryan where Bryan has to accept the match in order to get what he wants – an alliance with Moxley. The quality of promos on this show is very high when you have guys as good as Punk and Moxley delivering long speeches like they have done already this week.

A video aired featuring Keith Lee talking about his debut last week and saying he is the new face of the revolution. Lee said he’s going to win the ladder match and then the TNT Championship will be his.

Wardlow entered with Shawn Spears. Max Caster entered with Anthony Bowens with Max doing a rap ripping on the Tennessee Titans losing in the NFL Playoffs and he called Wardlow MJF’s “bitch boy” as well.

Face of the Revolution Qualifying Match: Wardlow (w/Shawn Spears) vs. Max Caster (w/Anthony Bowens)

Wardlow charged in with a clothesline, Caster moved and Bowens grabbed the foot of Wardlow with the referee seeing it. The referee did nothing even though it was blatant cheating. Anyway, they went to a picture in picture break less than one minute into the match.

(Commercial)

Wardlow was in control as he set up for a Powerbomb, Spears was on the apron for some reason and Caster hit Bowens with a punch while a chain was on his hand. Caster jumped off the top with an elbow drop for a two count. Wardlow hit a back body drop, Caster bumped into Bowens to knock him off the apron and Wardlow hit a Powerbomb. The fans cheered loudly for it. Wardlow hit Caster with two more Powerbombs for the pinfall win after five minutes.

Winner by pinfall: Wardlow

Analysis: * It was a five-minute match that should have been two minutes, but they had to stretch it for the commercial. Wardlow winning easy was the obvious result. Book the quick match instead and then go to the commercial after.

Post match, Bowens tried to attack Wardlow, but Wardlow easily fought back against him and hit a Powerbomb on Bowens. Shawn Spears hit Caster and Bowens each with chair shots.

There was a backstage interview with Dr. Britt Baker DMD and friends. Mercedes Martinez said she knows what to do against Thunder Rosa. One of the guys from Cobra Kai was there. I don’t watch it. Sorry.

(Commercial)

Let’s Hear from “Hangman” Adam Page

The AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page made his entrance for an interview with Tony Schiavone in the ring. Page had some scars on his face from last week’s Texas Death Match. Hangman was asked how he was doing, he tried to speak and was interrupted.

It was Adam Cole…bay bay. Cole wanted the fans to give a round of applause for the AEW World Champion. Cole spoke about the battles that Page has had with Bryan Danielson, the war with Kenny Omega to win the title and last week’s Texas Death Match with Page retaining the title. Cole told Tony to get the hell out of the ring, which drew boos. Cole said that Page earned that title while Cole said he’s been a World Champion everywhere he’s been.

Page wondered what it was like for Cole to watch his friends build a wrestling empire without him. Page wondered if it was weird for Cole seeing his former roommate and knowing that this is a championship he’ll never hold. Cole said he hasn’t heard The Young Bucks mention Page while saying he hasn’t heard Page hanging out with the Dark Order, so he wondered what kind of friend he is. Page said he is not perfect and he noted that Cole didn’t have a good record with friendship either. Page said that he has regrets, he has mistakes and said that this might be a mistake for Cole. Cole told Page that he’s known him for over a decade and said that Page has been an unbelievable pro wrestler as well as a champion. Cole said that any time they’ve been in the same promotion together, Page has always just been known as “The Other Adam.” Page didn’t like that.

Cole told Page that he has nothing but love, respect and admiration with him. Cole said if he could share the ring with anybody in AEW it would be Page. Cole said some day they will fight for that AEW World Championship and it will be man to man for that very title. Cole said when that day does come, filled with respect, may the best man win. Cole extended his hand, Page shook it and Cole left. Cole had a smirk on his face as he walked away.

Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish showed up behind Page and attacked him with forearms. Cole went back into the ring to attack Page with his buddies. There were some AEW security guys (indy wrestlers) that went into the ring to try to break it up. Some of the Dark Order guys ran out to the ring for the save, so Cole and friends left. Ten of the Dark Order beat up all the security guys by himself for some reason and tossed a security guy over the top onto the others.

Analysis: This was well done with Cole showing respect to Page for most of the interview, but he also took some shots as well. It ended with a handshake and then Page had to deal with a cheap attack as well. That should set up Page vs. Cole for the AEW World Title at Revolution and they can probably do some tag matches with Dark Order guys against Cole, Fish and O’Reilly as well.

There was a video with Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin talking about their TNT Title match later in the show.

Chris Jericho and Jake Hager of the Inner Circle entered for tag team action with the fans singing along with Jericho’s “Judas” song. JR said that Hager was in deep MMA training with Excalibur said Hager may be in the best shape of his career. Santana and Ortiz entered as the opponents. They are also members of the Inner Circle group.

The match looked like it was about to start, but that’s when Eddie Kingston showed up to watch the match. Jericho was shaking his head about it. Eddie walked out to stand in the corner of Santana & Ortiz.

Chris Jericho & Jake Hager vs. Santana & Ortiz

Jericho started with Santana as they exchanged some strikes and Santana hit a running clothesline. Santana hit a forearm against the turnbuckle. Santana charged, Jericho got a boot up and Santana came back with a hard chop to the chest. Santana hit a dropkick off the middle rope. Ortiz tagged in with an atomic drop, forearm, DDT and Santana hit a standing moonsault for two. Ortiz with a Fisherman’s Suplex for two. Jericho with a pop up into the air to send Ortiz to the mat. Hager tagged in with a double shoulder tackle. Hager and Ortiz battled with Ortiz getting forearms, but then Hager hit a belly-to-belly suplex across the ring. Hager hit a Hager Bomb splash off the middle rope for two.

(Commercial)

Jericho was working over Ortiz with slaps to the head, then Ortiz got back up and hit a clothesline on Jericho. Santana tagged in against Hager with chops, then a double axhandle to the back, a kick to the knee and a running dropkick. Jericho went into the ring illegally with a Codebreaker and Hager hit a lifting slam for two. Jericho and Hager sent Santana into the turnbuckle, but Hager was sent over the top to the floor. Santana with a forearm to the back of Jericho and Jericho came back with a bulldog. Ortiz blocked a Lionsault by Jericho and Santana gave Jericho a Russian legsweep off the ropes for two. Ortiz also took out Hager with a dive off the apron onto Hager on the floor. Santana & Ortiz hit the Street Sweeper double team move (Blockbuster off the shoulders) on Jericho for a two count. Santana jumped off Ortiz’s back onto Jericho, who caught him and applied the Liontamer submission on Santana. That led to Santana getting to the ropes to break it. Kingston was on the apron, so Jericho hit a springboard dropkick. Santana avoided a Judas Effect, Ortiz punched Jericho and Santana hit a discus lariat for the pinfall win after about 11 minutes.

Winners by pinfall: Santana & Ortiz

Analysis: ***1/4 It was a good tag team match. I’m happy for Santana & Ortiz getting a meaningful win like that. I thought that Hager would be the guy that was pinned, but having them beat Jericho is more meaningful in the long run. It wasn’t a strong finish since it was just a clothesline after shot to the back of the head. Anyway, it really didn’t provide any resolution to the Inner Circle problems other than giving a win to Santana & Ortiz with Kingston at ringside to distract Jericho a bit.

Post match, Jericho went after Kingston in the aisle and it was quickly broken up by referees. The same referees did nothing when Adam Page was attacked by three guys. Oh well. That’s pro wrestling.

Analysis: Jericho barely sold the finish since he was back on his feet as if it was nothing. That’s rare from him. He usually sells things well. It should lead to Jericho vs. Kingston as a singles match at Revolution as long Kingston is fine from a recent knee injury.

The Young Bucks, Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish were backstage for a promo. Adam Cole said on Rampage he’s going to beat up Ten of the Dark Order and Jay White is going to beat Trent Beretta. Cole mentioned the tag team title opportunities with Kyle & Fish arguing with Young Bucks about who is the better team. Young Bucks mentioned Kyle not being there recently, so Kyle mentioned having a baby, Matt Jackson said he had two of them and Nick said he had three kids. Cole tried to get everybody to get along. The teams left on opposite sides, Brandon Cutler the camera guy wondered which way Cole would go, Cole told him to shut off the camera and that was it.

(Commercial)

Mercedes Martinez made her entrance. They showed actor Martin Kove from Cobra Kai sitting at ringside.

No Disqualification Match: Thunder Rosa vs. Mercedes Martinez

A No Disqualification Match is also a No Countout Match. I’d rather see them call it a Street Fight.

Rosa had a chair while Martinez had a pipe and Rosa started with a couple of light chair shots. They were in the ring, then back out to the floor and Rose whipped Martinez into the ring post. Rosa grabbed a table from under the ring, Martinez sent Rosa into the steel steps and Martinez brought two chairs into the ring. Rosa whipped Martinez into the barricade to knock the barricade over. They were in the crowd with Rosa jumping off a barricade with a cross body block onto Martinez on the floor.

(Commercial)

The match returned with Martinez giving a suplex off the apron through a table that was set up and it barely broke the table. Martinez hit Rosa with two chair shots to the body. Martinez went for a move off the turnbuckle, but Rosa countered with a hurricanrana. Rosa threw a trash can at Martinez, then a trash can was put on the head and Rosa hit a dropkick while the trash can was on Martinez’s head. Martinez used a trash can lid to hit Rosa with it. Martinez with a German Suplex from off the top rope while Martinez was against the ropes, so no bump for her. That was a rough landing. Martinez hit a sloppy elbow drop off the top for two. Rosa came back with a crucifix bomb. Rosa picked up Martinez for the Thunder Fire Driver and apparently this is supposed to be more deadly on chairs even though Rosa is the one taking the bump. Rosa pinned Martinez to win. It went about ten minutes.

Winner by pinfall: Thunder Rosa

Analysis: *** It was a physical match with some unique spots using weapons, but I don’t think all of the spots worked as well as they planned in their heads. I still give them credit for the effort. The finisher was a move where Rosa took the whole bump on the chairs and then she won the match. It just looked weird. Anyway, Rosa is being built up to get a title match with Britt Baker. The fans know it too, which is they didn’t react much to Martinez when she got nearfalls in the match.

Post match, Rosa grabbed Martinez by the arm and bowed at her as a sign of respect.

Britt Baker, the AEW Women’s Champion, walked out there with Reb and Jamie Hayter, who isn’t always happy to be around. Baker went over to Martin Kove at ringside and he told Baker: “I told you she was weak. Now finish her.” Hayter and Rebel attacked Rosa from behind. The trio of Baker, Hayter and Rebel attacked Rosa. JR said this is very unprofessional as if it’s the first time he’s seen heels attack faces. Baker wanted Martinez to attack Rosa with the steel pipe, Martinez took her time thinking about it and Hayter knocked down Martinez with a forearm to the back. Baker and friends stood tall. Keep in mind that in the match right before this, referees broke up Kingston and Jericho from fighting right away. In this case, there was one referee on the floor. That’s it. Just give us some consistency.

Analysis: This was done to further the story that Baker is afraid to face Rosa since Rosa beat her last year (before Britt was the champion). It was also done to turn Martinez face since the heels attacked her. It should lead to a tag team match.

A video aired featuring the House of Black duo of Malakai Black and Brody King. Black talked about violence and justice. Things like that. He’s such a fun guy. Anyway, Black said they are waiting for history and I think there was a knock on a door. The scene ended there.

Next Wednesday on AEW Dynamite:

* Malakai Black & Brody King vs. Penta El Zero Miedo & Pac.

* Eddie Kingston & Chris Jericho will have a face to face confrontation. I assume it leads to them having a match at Revolution.

* Tag Team Battle Royale to earn a Tag Team Title Match at Revolution.

This Friday on AEW Rampage at 7pm ET:

* Adam Cole vs. Dark Order’s 10. Cole win.

* Trent Beretta vs. Jay White. White win. A video aired featuring Jay White talking about how he’s the leader of Bullet Club and he’s going to show all of AEW that it’s still his era.

* Serena Deeb has a five minute challenge.

* Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Dante Martin in a Face of the Revolution Qualifying Match.

The main event was next.

(Commercial)

Darby Allin made his entrance with the old man Sting. Darby is 54-17-1 in his career and a former TNT Champion. Sting walked to the back. Sammy Guevara entered as the TNT Champion that had two titles with him. I don’t know why. He had the interim title, then he won the real title and now he carries both for some reason. It’s strange. Sammy’s 5-0 in 2022.

TNT Championship: Sammy Guevara vs. Darby Allin

There was a handshake to start the match with the fans chanting for both guys. Allin did some side headlock takeovers leading to pin attempts. Allin ran the ropes, he hit a running dropkick and Sammy came back with a jumping kick while Allin was on the top rope. Sammy was standing on the middle rope, he jumped up with Allin on his shoulders and Allin bumped with his stomach hitting the top of the turnbuckle followed by a bounce to the floor. Ouch. That looked brutal and the fans chanted “holy shit” for it. Sammy set up Allin across the top rope, Sammy jumped off the top and hit a senton bomb onto Allin’s back leading to Allin bumping to the floor again. They went to a picture in picture break.

(Commercial)

Allin whipped Sammy sternum first into the turnbuckle. Allin hit two straight coffin splashes (using the back to attack) against the turnbuckle and then an attack to the right knee. Allin wrenched on the right knee. Allin trapped Sammy against the ropes so that he could wrench on the injured left leg some more. Sammy pulled himself up and got a headbutt to the face. They were standing on the top rope with Sammy hitting a Spanish Fly slam off the top! Sammy was selling the injured knee when he landed, so he was a bit slow to cover and it got a two count. Sammy went for a move, Allin got a knee to the face and Sammy bounced off the ropes, but Allin caught him with a Figure Four Leglock in the middle of the ring. Sammy turned it over, then Allin turned it back over and then they slapped eachother to break free. Sammy went for a knee, Allin moved and Sammy’s right knee hit the turnbuckle. They went for moves including Sammy going for the GTH, there were counters and Allin got the Last Supper pin attempt for two. Allin hit the flipping Stunner with Sammy bumping to the floor. Allin with a suicide dive right into a Cutter by Sammy on the floor! That was f’n great! The fans popped huge for that as they should have. Sammy set up Allin on the ring apron, Sammy jumped off the top with a senton bomb, Allin moved out of the way and Sammy hit the ring apron hard! Ouch. Allin set up Sammy in the ring for the Coffin Drop and Allin took a long time to get up top. Allin kept turning around to look at Sammy. Jose the Assistant was there, so Sting showed up and beat him up to get him out of there. The referee was looking at that (even though it was out of the ring), which allowed Andrade to show up and hit Allin with the DREADED TABLET OF DEATH~! in the head. The fans booed while Andrade smiled and Allin was seated on the top rope. Sammy got back up, picked up Allin, Sammy was limping to sell the right knee injury and Sammy hit the GTH (knee to the face) for the pinfall win. It went 15 minutes.

Winner by pinfall: Sammy Guevara

Analysis: **** Awesome match just like every time these guys wrestle. They’re two talented guys in their mid-20s with bright futures. These guys are great and also willing to put their bodies on the line at all times. Some of the bumps Allin takes are insane while making us worry that this guy isn’t going to be wrestling that long, but if he’s willing to do it then that’s good for him. It makes him stand out for sure. Sammy is awesome on offense with a lot of different moves. I wish he could sell moves a bit better and for longer, but in AEW it matters less than in other places. In this case, Sammy did sell well and did it consistently. Anyway, some of the spots they did like the Spanish Fly off the top as well as the Cutter on the floor were both incredible moves. The finish was cheap although it was done to further push the issues that Andrade has with Allin while also attacking Sammy after the match as well.

After the match, Matt Hardy ran out to the ring in a suit and he beat up Allin with punches. Sammy saw what was going in, so he went in there with his two TNT Titles. Andrade went into the ring and hit Sammy in the back with the DREADED TABLET OF DEATH~! Sammy was down after that. Andrade held up the two TNT Titles. Sammy and Matt left the ring together while Sting scared them off. End show.

Analysis: Andrade and his buddy Matt have talked about Andrade being the next TNT Champion while also getting involved with Allin/Sting, so it’s a follow up to that. I assume this means that Andrade will get a match for the TNT Title even though he hasn’t had a match on TV since December 1, so that’s 2.5 months. That was a loss against Cody. Get those coveted YouTube wins, I guess. Use Andrade better. He’s very good. At least he’s going to be feuding with the likes of Sammy, Darby and Sting in the months ahead, so that’s good for him.

Three Stars of the Show

1. Sammy Guevara

2. Darby Allin

3. (tie) Jon Moxley/Bryan Danielson/Lee Moriarty

3. (tie) CM Punk

The Scoreboard

This Week: 8.5 out of 10

Last Week: 9

Final Thoughts

A great show again like last week although I’m rating last week a bit higher. It was a vocal crowd in Nashville that was hot all night long. They are doing a very nice job of building the matches for the Revolution pay-per-view on March 6th with CM Punk vs. MJF announced as a Dog Collar Match. Obviously, Adam Page vs. Adam Cole for the AEW World Title is another one, then there’s Danielson vs. Moxley, Jericho vs. Kingston, the Tag Team Titles will be on the line, Baker vs. Rosa for the Women’s Title and more. Now that the show is getting closer, they are setting up things for the card.

The match quality was pretty good this week since they had several matches at the three-star level and the awesome Sammy/Darby main event even with a cheap finish. Wardlow’s match was typically short for him to make him look strong.

That promo from Moxley was awesome just like CM Punk’s promo was too. Both guys make their points so well.

There are so many talented people on this show and they are being featured well. Awesome job of using the incredible talent that they have.
