Cody Rhodes Plans To Finish The Story

Cody Rhodes isn’t flinching in his commitment to finish the story at WrestleMania 40 despite The Rock making his return.

Despite it seeming like he was heading for a fairytale ending to his story, in a moment that stunned WWE fans to silence, Cody Rhodes was defeated by Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. Since then, the star has been struggling to return to the title scene, instead becoming caught up in feuds with Brock Lesnar, The Judgment Day, and most recently Shinsuke Nakamura.

Many fans believe that Rhodes will finally get his rematch against Reigns at WrestleMania 40, however, more obstacles have appeared in The American Nightmare’s path. First, CM Punk made his shocking return to WWE at Survivor Series, and then The Rock recently teased facing Roman Reigns himself, with WrestleMania seeming to be the most likely stage for such a dream bout.

Despite this, Rhodes is confident he will still achieve his goals and recently told Sports Illustrated that he isn’t “flinching.”

“The Rock is The Great One–he’s still electrifying. CM Punk is one of the greatest stars in the history of wrestling. I know what I’m up against. Look at the roster–it’s loaded with stars. But that doesn’t bother me. I’m not flinching. I’m not rooting against anyone else, I’m just working to make it happen.”

With the fans behind him and a string of achievements under his belt, Cody has set his sights on reaching the next big milestone by winning the Royal Rumble.

“The milestones keep building. We keep climbing to new levels. Now the question I keep asking myself is, ‘Who is the face of the place?’ That’s what I want. That’s another level I need to attain. Hopefully that starts at the Royal Rumble.”
