WWE’s creative team in the current regime gets a lot of flak, but lately, wrestlers themselves have begun to share some of their frustrations, and the latest on the list is WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.

Cody Rhodes has been the face of the WWE ever since he won the WWE title at WrestleMania 40 by defeating Roman Reigns.

He would lose the title a few times to the likes of John Cena, who was on his retirement tour, and most recently Drew McIntyre, but would have it back in a matter of months.

He is currently going into WrestleMania 42 as the Champion to face Randy Orton, who earned his shot by winning the Elimination Chamber match.

During his title reigns, The American Nightmare has had to wrestle the same star on multiple occasions as part of long-standing rivalries. This is a complaint from many fans and analysts as well, who feel the WWE creative team needs to build new stars and have new rivalries and stories instead of recycling what has been working.

Roman Reigns recently openly spoke about WWE’s creative team as being unable to build a new star in his two-year absence, and now Cody Rhodes has also shared his gripe with the rivalries and storylines the creative team has him do.

Cody Rhodes Says He’s Tired Of Wrestling The Same People

Speaking on The Nikki & Brie Show alongside Becky Lynch, Rhodes says he is growing tired of wrestling the same people multiple times.

He uses Becky Lynch’s husband, Seth Rollins, as an example. Although more recently, the same can be said of Rhodes’ rivalry with Drew McIntyre, which lasted from 2025 to 2026.

I hope that doesn’t put a rain on anyone’s parade, but I’m getting tired of wrestling guys like. I just… you get into these longstanding rivalries and you’re just in there. I mean, me and your husband wrestled four times now (Seth Rollins).

Like, and more than that really, but like four, and I think took a great deal out of each other on the way. I mean, so I don’t know if that’s what I’m looking to do here. As much as I want him to see me, that’s the hill in front of me.
