WWE Hall Of Famer Reveals Where CM Punk Got Promo Line From

A WWE Hall of Famer has provided some insight into where CM Punk got a particular line from when he delivered it on Raw.

The WWE return of CM Punk at Survivor Series shocked the wrestling world. After all, CM Punk walked out on WWE nearly ten years earlier due to his frustrations with the company.

Following his AEW departure that saw him get fired by that company, WWE opened its doors to Punk once again and the Chicago fans greeted Punk with one of the loudest ovations in WWE history.

It was two days later on the November 27th edition of Raw when CM Punk told the WWE Universe that he was “home” in WWE again. Since then, Punk has said similar things about how great it feels to be back in WWE since he spent eight years of his career there from 2006 to early 2014.

At the end of Punk’s return promo on that episode of Raw, he looked into the camera to say: “I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to make money.” Some people didn’t like it because it came off as selfish, but in the pro wrestling business, making money is always the goal.

Kevin Nash is a two-time WWE Hall of Famer who hasn’t been shy about his feelings toward Punk. They didn’t always get along, but they are both smart businessmen too. Nash spoke about Punk’s “money” line on his Kliq This podcast where he revealed it comes from a wrestling legend that’s also a WWE Hall of Famer.

“All of a sudden people take saying that when — we all did it, like ‘I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to make money.’ The Kliq said that, but you have to at some point give the author credit. That was Chief Jay Strongbow.”

As he continued, Nash mentioned that WWE Hall of Famer Captain Lou Albano had another “money” line.

“And Lou Albano was: ‘There’s only two things in this business that’s real: money, and the miles.’ That’s Captain Lou.”

CM Punk Returning To WWE Ring On The Day After Christmas

While CM Punk has been back in WWE for about one month, he has yet to have a match since his return. That first match is coming on Tuesday, December 26th. That’s the night when CM Punk will wrestle at a WWE live event for the first time in a decade when he faces The Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

In addition to that, Punk will wrestle Dominik on the December 30th WWE live event in Los Angeles (Inglewood), California at the KIA Forum.

CM Punk also posted his upcoming WWE schedule on Instagram noting that he’s scheduled for Raw on January 8th and January 22nd, as well as the Royal Rumble on January 27th.
