Chris Jericho Reveals If He Wants To Be In AEW Continental Classic

Chris Jericho has responded to questions about if he wants to be in the AEW Continental Classic tournament.

The AEW Continental Classic tournament is in its fifth week as the twelve wrestlers will compete in their final round-robin matches. Once the round-robin concludes, the semifinals will take place on the December 27th episode of AEW Dynamite and the finals taking place at the AEW Worlds End PPV on December 30th.

One big name in AEW that is missing from the Continental Classic is Chris Jericho, who is AEW’s first World Champion.

Over the last month, Jericho has been concentrating more on his Golden Jets tag team with Kenny Omega. At AEW Full Gear, Chris Jericho & Kenny Omega defeated The Young Bucks in a match that gave The Golden Jets a Tag Team Title match against the champions.

Due to Jericho being busy with tag team matches, he wasn’t chosen for the Continental Classic. While talking to the Dallas Morning News, Jericho explained he would be open to it in the future.

“I mean, I’ll do whatever, man. Whatever my boss wants me to do, I’ll make it great. And the Continental Classic — I didn’t know about it until I think Tony told me a little bit before [it began] and didn’t ask me to be in it, and I didn’t ask to be in it. Because we’re doing the storyline with Kenny and with Don. With that sort of side of the coin, and the thing with the Young Bucks going on, it really wouldn’t have made sense right now for me to be in it, but it’s been great.”

“I mean, I think every match has been good to very good to excellent. I think everybody in the tournament is really showing who they are and whether you’re winning or losing, everybody wins when you have a great match. So is it something that I would be interested in doing next year? Of course, I think it’d be awesome to do next year. If it comes around that Tony wants me to be in it, I’ll be in it.”

Chris Jericho’s Tag Team Partner Is Out Indefinitely

At the AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming episode on December 13th, Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega were part of an awkward promo segment with AEW Tag Team Champions Big Bill & Ricky Starks. They got through it eventually and agreed to a Tag Team Title match at AEW Worlds End on December 30th.

However, that match may not happen as scheduled due to Jericho’s tag team partner Kenny Omega posting a hospital photo due to feeling sick all week. Omega stated that he was “out indefinitely.” It was later reported that it was diverticulitis. It’s not known when Omega will be able to wrestle again.

Everybody at TJRWrestling sends our best wishes to Kenny Omega.
