Backstage Update On Ace Steel’s AEW Firing

Ace Steel

A new report has shed light on the backstage reaction in AEW to the news that producer Ace Steel is apparently no longer part of the company.

All Out should have been a big occasion for CM Punk as he returned to pay-per-view following his foot injury and recaptured the AEW World Championship from Jon Moxley. However, the celebrations quickly turned sour as Punk took his opportunity at the post-show press conference to settle a few scores.

CM Punk took aim at The Young Bucks, Hangman Adam Page, MJF, and his former friend Colt Cabana with explosive remarks. This led to him being confronted backstage in his locker room by The Bucks where a fight broke out. Several stars and backstage personnel were suspended including Punk, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega. The other man, company producer Ace Steel is reported to have been released from his contract as a result of his involvement.

Fightful Select has now reported some backstage reaction to the news of Steel’s departure with the “unanimous consensus” from those that were spoken to being that Ace Steel leaving AEW was expected and that it would have happened a lot sooner had it not been for certain possible legal ramifications.

A longtime talent who was said to be on good terms with Steel suggested that his days were numbered when footage of Kenny Omega appeared in Japan after the fight with visible bite marks still on his arm. Ace Steel is alleged to have been the one to have delivered that bite.

A veteran is said to have suggested it was “a no brainer” that Steel was let go as it would have led to frustration in the locker room if he had returned no matter the situation surrounding his longtime friend CM Punk. Another talent simply stated “biting people bad” which is certainly a reasonable take on events.
