Asuka To Get WWE Women’s Title Match

Asuka

Asuka has a chance to reclaim her crown.

Asuka captured the Raw Women’s Championship from Bianca Belair back at Night of Champions in May, marking her seventh title reign on the WWE main roster.

However, that came crashing to an end at SummerSlam when she lost her title back to Belair as The EST of WWE rolled up the champion for the pinfall while still trapped in Charlotte Flair’s Figure Eight. The celebration did not even get started for Belair however as Damage CTRL emerged to clear the ring and allowed IYO SKY to cash in her Money In The Bank contract on Belair to win the WWE Women’s Championship.

Asuka is back in the hunt for gold

On the 8th of September edition of SmackDown, Charlotte Flair teamed with Shotzi to take on Bayley and IYO SKY in a tag team match with Dakota Kai watching on from ringside holding SKY’s title. During the bout, Asuka appeared behind Kai and took the title belt, distracting Damage CTRL long enough for Shotzi to pin Bayley and win the match.

Later on the show, an incensed IYO SKY issued a challenge to The Empress of Tomorrow to meet her for the title and Asuka later responded noting that the champion was not ready for her. WWE confirmed that the title match between the two stars will take place on the 22nd of September edition of SmackDown in Glendale, Arizona.
